Clinical Study Of Chinese Medicine Combined With 4-terpineol Wipes In The Treatment Of Demodex Blepharitis

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of traditional Chinese medicine in treating demodex blepharitis.To compare the curative effects of Chinese medicine,4-terpineol wipes and Chinese medicine combined with 4-terpineol wipes on demodex blepharitis;To provide theoretical basis for the treatment of demodex blepharitis by TCM.Methods: A total of 108 patients(216 eyes)were selected from Yunnan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from October 2021 to December 2022.All patients met the diagnosis of demodex blepharitis and met the inclusion and exclusion criteria.The patients were randomly divided into three groups: Group A,Group B and Group C.Basic treatment,traditional Chinese medicine atomization treatment(once a day);Group B: 4-terpineol wipes wipe eyelid margin treatment(once a day);Group C: Traditional Chinese medicine atomization treatment combined with 4-terpineol wipes wiping eyelid margin treatment(once a day);The treatment period of the three groups was 1 month.Before and after treatment,ocular surface disease index score(OSDI),TCM symptom quantitative grading score,palpebral marginal sign score,meibomian gland function score,tear film rupture time determination(BUT),eyelid eyelash mite count were performed,and SPSS26.0 was used for statistical analysis.Results: After one month of clinical observation experiment,SPSS26.0 was used to analyze all indexes,and the results showed that:(1)After treatment,OSDI score,TCM symptom grading score,palblepharon margin sign score,BUT and mite count in groups A,B and C were significantly improved compared with before treatment(P<0.05);There was no significant difference in meibomian gland loss score compared with that before treatment(P> 0.05).(2)There were no significant differences in OSDI score,TCM symptom grading score,palpebral border sign score,BUT and mite count between group A and group B after treatment(P>0.05);OSDI score,TCM symptom grading score,palpebral border sign score,BUT and mite count were different between group A and group C after treatment(P<0.05),group C had better curative effect than group A;There were significant differences between group B and group C in OSDI score,TCM symptom grading score,blepharomial sign score,BUT and mite count after treatment(P<0.01),group C was better than group B.Conclusions: 4-terpineol wipes and traditional Chinese medicine are effective in improving OSDI score,TCM symptom grading score,improving palpebral border signs,prolonging BUT and reducing mite count.4-terpineol wipes combined with traditional Chinese medicine has good efficacy in improving OSDI score,TCM symptom grading score,improving palpebral marginal signs,prolongating BUT and reducing mite count.The combination of the two drugs can effectively treat demodex blepharitis.
