Objective: To investigate the correlation between hyperhomocysteinemia and mild cognitive impairment in elderly patients with coronary heart disease. Methods: 1.Patients hospitalized in the Department of General Medicine and Department of Cardiovascular Medicine of the First Hospital of China Medical University from January 2021 to December 2022 were enrolled.A total of 120 elderly patients with stable angina pectoris were selected from the CCS(Diagnosis and Management Guideline). The general data of patients were collected, including gender, age, weight, education level, blood pressure, history of diabetes, smoking history, plasma homocysteine, blood lipids,ADL score,MMSE score,etc.2.According to the 2018Revision of Chinese Guidelines for the Prevention and Treatment of Hypertension, fasting plasma total Homocysteine(Hcy)≥ 15 μ mol/L was taken as the diagnostic criteria for Hyperhomocysteinemia(HHcy). The patients were divided into three groups, including group A with Hcy<15μmol/L,group B with Hcy<30μmol/L ≤ 15μmol/L and group C with Hcy ≥ 30 μ mol/L.3.To analyze the relationship between hyperhomocysteinemia and mild cognitive impairment in elderly patients with coronary heart disease. Results: A total of 120 patients were included in this study and divided into group A(Hcy<15μmol/L),group B(15μmol/L≤Hcy<30μmol/L)and group C(Hcy≥30μmol/L)according to plasma Hcy level. The cognitive function of the patients in the 3groups was scored using the simple intelligent State Examination Scale(MMSE)and the Daily Living Ability Scale(ADL).Through the comparison,it was found that the MMSE score of the patients in group B and group C was significantly lower than that in group A,with statistical significance(p < 0.05),and the score of group C was significantly lower than that in group B.The results were statistically different(p < 0.05).By comparing the ADL scores among the three groups,it could be found that the ADL scores of patients in group B and group C were higher than those in group A,but the difference was not statistically significant(p > 0.05).Compared with group A,the incidence of MCI in groups B and C with elevated Hcy levels was significantly increased, and the incidence of MCI in group C was also significantly increased compared with group B.Conclusion: The results of this study showed that the incidence of MCI was significantly increased in elderly patients with coronary heart disease complicated with hyper Hcy emia, and the incidence was positively correlated with plasma Hcy level.Hcy is not only related to the occurrence, development and prognosis of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, but also the increase of Hcy level can suggest the changes of patients’ cognitive function to a certain extent. When treating elderly patients with coronary heart disease, the intervention of Hcy level should be taken into account, which provides a new idea for clinical treatment.
