The Reliability And Validity Of The Translated Chinese Version Of The Caregiving Burden Scale For Family Caregivers Of Children With Cancer

ObjectivesThe purpose of this study is to introduce the Caregiving Burden Scale for Family Caregivers of Children with Cancer(CBSFC-CC)developed by Turkish scholar Hamide Nur ?EV?K ?ZDEM?R and others,and to test the reliability among family caregivers of cancer children,so as to provide effective measurement tools for assessing the care burden of family caregivers for cancer children in China,so as to better provide personalized support for family caregivers of cancer patients in clinical work.MethodsIn contact with Dr.Hamide Nur CEVOZDEM R,developer of the scale,and with his consent and authorization,the CBSFC-CC scale was for Chinese and cross-culture debugging in strict accordance with the Beaton cross-cultural debugging guidelines.The first Chinese version of CBSFC-CC scale was formed,which was in line with Chinese language environment,clinical situation and suitable for family caregivers of Chinese children with cancer.30 family caregivers of children with cancer were invited to conduct a preliminary experiment,discuss and revise the scale,and form the Chinese version of CBSFCC-CC scale.By convenient sampling method and using the general data questionnaire and the Chinese version of CBFSC-CC scale,a questionnaire survey was conducted on the family caregivers of 527 children with cancer who were followed up in or out of hospital in the children’s blood/cancer wards of five Grade III Class A general hospitals in Sichuan Province from July to December 2022(315 cases were collected for the first time and 208 cases were collected for confirmatory factor analysis)..In this study,SPSS26.0 and Amos26.0 software were used for statistical description and analysis of the collected data,and Cronbach’s α,split-half reliability and test-retest reliability were used to reflect the reliability of the Chinese version CBSFC-CC scale.Exploratory factor analysis,confirmatory factor analysis,convergent validity and discriminant validity were used to determine the validity of the Chinese version of the scale.ResultThe Cronbach’s α of Chinese version CBFSC-CC was 0.96,the dimension of physical burden was 0.90,the dimension of emotional burden was 0.91,the dimension of psychological burden was 0.90,the dimension of Sociocultural and Economic Burden was 0.84.The split-half reliability coefficient is 0.89.The test-retest reliability coefficient was 0.95.In exploratory factor analysis,five common factors were extracted and integrated into four common factors after discussion,and the cumulative variance contribution rate was 65.80%.In the convergent validity,the average variance extracted of each dimension are greater than 0.40,and the composite reliabiliy are greater than 0.80.In discriminant validity,the square root of the average variance extracted is greater than the correlation coefficient of each dimension and item.ConclusionThe Chinese version CBSFC-CC contains 29 entries in 4 dimensions.The items of the scale are scientific and reasonable,with good reliability and validity,which can accurately measure and evaluate the nursing burden of family caregivers of children with cancer.It is an effective evaluation tool in clinical nursing work.
