ObjectiveThe purpose of this study is to introduce the Parkinson’s disease caregiver burden questionnaire(PDCB)from University of Melbourne in Australian.According to the Brislin principle, this study established a family caregivers’ burden assessment tool for family caregivers of Parkinson’s disease patients with Chinese cultural background, analyzed the reliability and validity of the scale, and explored its applicability to assess the family caregiver burden of Parkinson’s disease patients in China.MethodsFirst of all, with the authorization and consent of Dr.Michael Zhong, the author of the original Parkinson’s disease caregiver burden questionnaire, the original Chinese version of PDCB was revised according to the scientific Brislin principle through translation procedure, back translation procedure, expert consultation and language and culture adjustment. Then 30 family caregivers of Parkinson’s disease patients were selected for the preliminary experiment, and the Chinese culture of the questionnaire was revised according to the feed back of the family caregivers,to establish the Chinese version of Parkinson’s disease caregiver burden questionnaire.Secondly,to verify the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of Parkinson’s family caregiver burden scale.Combining with the diagnostic criteria of Parkinson’s disease in China(2016 Edition). The data of 146 family caregivers of patients with Parkinson’s Disease of a third-class hospital in LiaoNing were collected by convenience sampling method.30 caregivers were selected by convenience sampling method who retested two weeks later.Excel 2016 was used to establish the database,SPSS 26.0,SPSSAU and Amos 23.0 was used to analyze the data,Including descriptive statistical analysis, indicator analysis, reliability analysis, validity analysis, confirmatory factor analysis.Results1.The Chinese version of the PDCB Questionnaire has 7 dimensions, including Physical burden,Sleep disruption,Patient symptoms,Responsibilities,Patient Medications,Social burden,Patient and self relationship, which also had acceptable reliability and validity. All the items meet the requirements of statistical analysis. It can be used for measuring the family caregivers’ burden of patients with Parkinson’s Disease in China.2.Indicator analysis:The Critical value of each indicator in Chinese version of the PDCB ranged from-9.564 to-3.811(p<0.05).The Pearson correlation coefficient between every indicator of the questionnaire and the whole questionnaire was between 0.348 and 0.620(p<0.05).3.Reliability:This study estimated the reliability of the Chinese version of PDCB by calculating the Cronbach’s alpha coefficient,split-half reliability and retest reliability.Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of the whole questionnaire was 0.825,and the Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of Physical burden,Sleep disruption,Patient symptoms,Responsibilities,Patient Medications,Social burden,Patient and self relationship were respectively 0.838、0.706、0.861、0.792、0.814、0.795、0.780,the semireliability of the whole questionnaire was 0.698,and the semi-reliability of Physical burden,Sleep disruption,Patient symptoms,Responsibilities,Patient Medications,Social burden,Patient and self relationship were respectively 0.843、0.717、0.836、0.843、0.822、0.761、0.764;the retest reliability of the whole questionnaire was 0.936,the retest reliability of Physical burden,Sleep disruption,Patient symptoms,Responsibilities,Patient Medications,Social burden,Patient and self relationship were respectively 0.936、0.817、0.980、0.810、0.779、0.949、0.863.4.Validity:This study estimated the validity of the Chinese version of PDCB by calculating the Content validity, calibration correlation and analyzing confirmatory factor analysis.Six scholars were selected to estimate the content validity of the Parkinson’s disease caregiver burden questionnaire. The S-CVI/Ave value was 0.967,and the whole questionnaire I-CVI valueranged from 0.83~1.0.Selecting the ZBI as the benchmark to estimate the calibrated correlation degree of PDCB.The correlation between the aggregate score of the PDCB and the aggregate score of the ZBI was positive, and the correlation coefficient is 0.772(P<0.05).The correlation between the scores of Sleep disruption,Patient symptoms,Responsibilities,Patient Medications,Social burden and the aggregate score of ZBI and the scores of every item were positive. The correlation coefficient was between 0.198~0.720.The score of Physical burden and Patient and self relationship were not correlated with dimensions Role strain of ZBI.The results of exploratory factor analysis showed that 7 common factors were extracted, involving Physical burden,Sleep disruption,Patient symptoms,Responsibilities,Patient Medications,Social burden,Patient and self-relationship dimension, whose cumulative variance contribution was 74.857%.Confirmative factor analysis showed that χ2/df=1.325、NNFI=0.943、IFI=0.957、TLI=0.943、CFI=0.955、RMSEA=0.047 met the fitness standard. The Standard Estimate of 20 entries were between 0.642~0.972(P<0.05),greater than 0.4.The Average Variance Extracted(AVE)of All the seven dimensions of PDCB were between 0.547~0.769,and the Composite Reliability(CR)of All the seven dimensions of PDCB were between 0.707~0.866.The minimum value of AVE square root corresponding to the seven dimensions of PDCB was 0.740,which was greater than the maximum value of correlation coefficient between the dimensions of 0.346.The heterotrait-monotrait ratio of all construct were less than 0.85.Cross-Loadings test suggests All the indicators of PDCB has the highest loading value, with the dimension which each one has been attributed to.ConclusionThe Chinese version of PDCB is composed of 20 indicators and 7 dimensions, which also had acceptable reliability and validity. All the items meet the requirements of statistical analysis and the acceptable range of psychological measurement. It can be used as a measurement tool to evaluate the burden of family caregivers of patients with Parkinson’s disease in China. |
