Abstract/Summary:
Objective:In recent years, the powerful functions of smart phones have brought great convenience to our life, study and work. Therefore, the number of smart phone users has increased rapidly.Globally, there are currently 3.5 billion smartphone users[1].Middle school students are the main group of smartphone users,so it is necessary to understand the current situation of smartphone addiction among middle school students. In addition, many domestic and foreign literatures are devoted to studying the harm of smartphone addiction, including psychological diseases, metabolic diseases, sleep disorders, etc. However, there are not many studies on smartphone addiction and musculoskeletal pain at home and abroad,so it is necessary to study the current situation of smartphone addiction and musculoskeletal pain among middle school students,so as to formulate effective intervention measures to reduce the rate of smartphone addiction and prevent musculoskeletal pain caused by smartphone addiction. Methods:In this study, the general demographic characteristics,Smartphone use,Smartphone operating status, musculoskeletal disorders questionnaire,Smartphone Addiction cognition,Smartphone Addiction Scale(Smartphone Addiction Scale-short;SPSS 26.0 software was used for statistical analysis. The continuous variables were(mean±standard deviation)and median(P25;P75)indicated that the categorization variables were represented by the number and percentage,chi-square test, rank sum test and other methods were used for differential comparison,Spearman rank correlation was used to analyze the influencing factors related to smartphone addiction, and binary logistic regression was used to analyze the risk factors.P<0.05 indicated that the difference was statistically significant. Results:In this study, the smartphone ownership rate of middle school students reached88%,and 37.7%middle school students were identified as smartphone addicts.SAS-SV score is statistically different in physical condition, whether or not to own a mobile phone, the frequency of using a mobile phone, the longest time of using a mobile phone, the number of years of owning a mobile phone, daily traffic consumption, the distance between eyes and the mobile phone screen, the use of eye protection mode, and the family head down to play mobile phone.SAS-SV score is correlated with family economy, family type, physical condition, whether to own a mobile phone, frequency of using a mobile phone, maximum duration of using a mobile phone, discomfort after using a mobile phone, distance between eyes and mobile phone screen, use of eye protection mode, family members head down to play mobile phone, whether to limit mobile phone use and so on.Smartphone addiction is different in only child, family economy, physical condition, whether to own a mobile phone, the frequency of using a mobile phone, the longest duration of using a mobile phone, the number of years of using a mobile phone, daily traffic consumption, the distance between eyes and the mobile phone screen, the use of eye protection mode, family members head down to play with their hands and other factors.Binary logistic regression was used for statistical analysis of smartphone addiction group and non-addiction group, and the results showed that the frequency of using mobile phone, the longest duration of using mobile phone, and the family members bowing their heads to play with mobile phone were all correlated with smartphone addiction. The study found that musculoskeletal pain existed in middle school students, and the pain sites were neck, shoulder, wrist, fingers, back, waist, elbow, hip, hip, knee, ankle and foot, respectively. The prevalence rate of different body parts ranged from1.0%to 67.8%.Chi-square test was applied to the musculoskeletal pain of the subjects in the smartphone addiction group and the non-addiction group, and the pain in the neck, shoulder, back, elbow, waist, wrist, finger and other parts of the subjects in the past year and one week. The results of binary logistic regression analysis showed that the pain in eyes, neck, shoulder, back, elbow, waist, wrist, finger and other parts of the respondents were significantly correlated with smartphone addiction. Conclusion:In this study,37.7%of middle school students were identified as smartphone addiction.Compared with non-addiction,smartphone addicts have significant characteristics such as high frequency of using mobile phones, long duration of using mobile phones, long years of owning mobile phones, high daily traffic consumption and family members bowing their heads to play mobile phones.Middle school students have musculoskeletal pain in different parts;Smartphone addicts have a higher incidence of musculoskeletal pain than non-smartphone addicts;smartphone addiction is the cause of musculoskeletal pain;Musculoskeletal pain is significantly correlated with the posture of operating mobile phones.Correct operation of smart phones can relieve or prevent musculoskeletal pain to a certain extent. Therefore,it is necessary to take timely measures to reduce smartphone addiction among middle school students and relieve or prevent musculoskeletal pain caused by using smart phones.
