| ObjectivesIn this study, through a scale survey,to understand the level of illness uncertainty and coping style of hospitalized hypertensive patients,to explore the influencing factors of illness uncertainty and coping style, and to explore the correlation between illness uncertainty and coping style.MethodsThis study is a cross-sectional survey in a non-experimental study. From November 2020 to November 2021,360 patients with hypertension in a third-class hospital in Wuhan were selected by convenient sampling.General data questionnaire,Chinese version of the Adult scale of Illness uncertainty and Medical coping style scale were used as the research tools. The data of the survey data were analyzed by SPSS23.0 statistical software package.Frequency and constituent ratio, mean and standard deviation were used to describe the general data, illness uncertainty and medical coping style of hospitalized patients with hypertension;t-test,analysis of variance, rank sum test and multiple linear regression were used to explore the influence of general data on illness uncertainty and coping style.Using Pearson’s correlation analysis method to analyze the relationship between illness uncertainty and coping style in hospitalized patients with hypertension.Results(1)The total score of illness uncertainty was(96.72 ±9.46),which was in the middle level.Among them, the scores of uncertainty, complexity, information deficiency and unpredictability were(39.25 ±4.14),(20.36 ±1.78),(20.86 ±2.52)and(16.25 ±3.34)respectively.The average scores of items from high to low compliance were unpredictability dimension(3.25 ±0.67),uncertainty dimension(3.02 ±0.32),information deficiency dimension(2.98 ±0.36)and complexity dimension(2.91 ±0.25).(2)The results of univariate analysis showed that there were significant differences in the scores of illness uncertainty among age, occupation, education level, monthly income, living style, type of medical insurance, course of disease and number of complications(P < 0.05).The results of multiple regression analysis showed that age, occupation, education level, living mode, type of medical insurance, course of disease and number of complications entered the regression equation of the influencing factors of illness uncertainty(P < 0.05).(3)The total score of coping style was(50.15 ±6.58).Among them, the scores of face dimension, avoidance dimension and yield dimension were(19.49±4.14),(17.63 ±2.56)and(13.03 ±3.50)respectively.The average scores of compliance from high to low were yield(2.61 ±0.70),avoidance(2.52 ±0.37)and face(2.44 ±0.52).(4)The results of univariate analysis showed that there were significant differences in coping scores among different education level, monthly income, living style, type of health insurance and course of disease(P < 0.05).There were significant differences in avoidance coping scores among different education level, living style, type of medical insurance and course of disease(P < 0.05).There were significant differences in yield coping scores among different education level, monthly income, living style, type of medical insurance and course of disease(P <0.05).The results of multiple regression analysis showed that the five variables of living style, type of medical insurance, education level, course of disease and monthly income entered the regression equation of facing, avoiding and yielding coping factors respectively(P < 0.05).(5)The total score of illness uncertainty was negatively correlated with the score of face dimension and avoidance dimension, the correlation coefficient was-0.575 and-0.355 respectively(P<0.05),and positively correlated with the score of yield dimension, the correlation coefficient was 0.465(P<0.05).The score of uncertainty dimension was negatively correlated with the score of face dimension and avoidance dimension, and the correlation coefficient was-0.367and-0.296,respectively(P<0.05),and positively correlated with the score of yield dimension, and the correlation coefficient was 0.423(P<0.05).The score of complexity dimension was positively correlated with that of yield dimension, and the correlation coefficient was 0.342(P<0.05).The score of information deficiency dimension was negatively correlated with the score of face dimension and avoidance dimension, and the correlation coefficients were-0.593 and-0.349,respectively(P<0.05).The score of unpredictability was negatively correlated with the score of face dimension, and the correlation coefficients were-0.324(P<0.05),and positively correlated with the score of yield dimension, and the correlation coefficients were 0.354(P<0.05).Conclusion(1)The subjects’ illness uncertainty is in the middle level, which mainly comes from the inability to predict the occurrence and development of the disease, and the uncertainty about the symptoms and clinical manifestations of the disease.(2)Different age, occupation, education level, monthly income, living style, type of medical insurance, course of disease and the number of complications have influence on the illness uncertainty. The main influencing factors of illness uncertainty were age, occupation, education, living style, type of medical insurance, course of disease and number of complications.(3)The coping style of the subjects was more negative.(4)Different education level, monthly income, living style, type of medical insurance and course of disease have influence on the subjects’ coping style.Different education level, living style, type of health insurance and course of disease have influence on the subjects’ avoidance coping.Different education level, monthly income, living style, type of medical insurance and course of disease have influence on the subjects’ yield coping. The main influencing factors of coping style were living style, type of health insurance, education level, course of disease and monthly income.(5)The subjects’ illness uncertainty was negatively correlated with coping style and avoidance coping style, and positively correlated with yielding coping style. The more patients adopt negative coping style, the higher the illness uncertainty. |
