Research On The Correlation Among Illness Uncertainty And Coping Style And Social Support In Patients With Infertility

Objective To know the status of illness uncertainty in patients with infertilityanalyze its influencing factors,and further explore the relationship among illness uncertainty,coping style and social support,aiming at providing a theoretical and practical basis for the reduction of illness uncertainty in patients with infertility by the questionnaire survey about general information,disease uncertainty,coping style,social support in patients with infertility.Methods With convenience sampling method,132 infertility out-patients from three levels of first-class hospital at Jinan in Shandong Province were investigated by questionnaire including general information questionnaire,adult sense of uncertainty in illness scale(MUIS-A)questionnaire,social support rating scale(SSRS)and medical coping modes questionnaire(MCMQ).The vaild questionaires were 120 with an effective recovery rate from 90.9 percent.Survey data were collected and used SPSS21.0 software for statistical analysis,and main descriptive statistical analysis were about t test,analysis of variance and Pearson correlation analysis.Results(1)The total score of illness uncertainty in patients with infertility was 86.34�10.40,and the score of uncertainty dimension,complexity dimension,information deficit degree,and unpredictable dimension were respectively 39.50�4.78,15.63�2.79,14.93�2.59,and 16.27�1.85.85.83%infertile patients were with illness uncertainty score at a moderate level.(2)Age,educational level,economic situation,fertility stress and infertility causes were influential factors affecting the illness uncertainty in patients with infertility with statistically significance(P<0.05),and occupational,medical expenses.having only child had no significant relationship with illness uncertainty.(3)The illness uncertainty score in infertility patients was negatively correlated with facing response significantly(r=-0.135,P<0.01),and negatively correlated with avoidance response(r=-0.128,P<0.05),and positively correlated with yielding response significantly(r=0.039,P<0.01);Ambiguity dimension was negatively correlated with facing response(r=-0.129,P<0.01);Unpredictable dimension and yielding response were positively correlated(r=-0.180,P<0.01);Complexity dimension was negatively correlated with avoidance(r=-0.125,P<0.01).(4)The illness uncertainty score in sterility patients was negatively correlated with the score of social support and subjective support(r=-0.178,r=-0.136,P<0.01)significantly,and negatively correlated with objective support score(r=-0.128,P<0.05);Uncertainty dimension was negatively correlated with the score of subjective support and social support(r=-0.122,r=-0.128,P<0.05);Complexity dimension was negatively correlated with subjective support score and social support score(r=-0.175,r=-0.196,P<0.05).The dimension of lacking information was negatively correlated with objective support score and social support score(r=-0.122,r=-0.119,P<0.05).Conclusion(1)Illness uncertainty was prevalent among patients with infertility,and the total score of illness uncertainty was at the medium level among most sterility patients.(2)The influential factors affecting illness uncertainty in sterility patients were age,cultural degree,economic situation,fertility stress and infertility causes.(3)Illness uncertainty in sterility patients was negatively correlated with facing response significantly,and negatively correlated with avoidance response,and positively related with yielding response significantly.(4)The illness uncertainty in sterility patients was negatively correlated with social support,subjective support score and objective support score.
