| In recent years,the incidence of pet canine and feline tumors has been continuously increasing,but little research work has been carried out on the epidemiology of canine and feline tumors in China.This paper aims to investigate the epidemiological characteristics and current status of canine and feline tumors in Guangdong Province,and to observe the clinical therapeutic effect of modified Chaihu Shugan Powder on canine and feline malignant mammary gland tumors through clinical treatment trials.Part I Epidemiological Investigation of Canine and Feline Tumors in Guangdong Province In this paper,543 clinical cases of canine and feline tumors in 10 animal hospitals in Guangdong Province from 2013 to 2019 were collected,sorted out and investigated.The age,breed,sex,tumor location and nature of the cases were registered by using epidemiological records,and all canine and feline tumor cases were classified according to mammary gland,skin,digestive system,urogenital system,immune system and other systems according to the location of the tumors.The distribution characteristics of various tumors in age,breed,sex and nature were analyzed.The results of the investigation are as follows:1.Mammary gland tumors are the most common tumors in dogs and cats in Guangdong Province.The second most common tumors are skin tumors.Most tumors occur in dogs and cats over 7 years old.The most common breeds of dog with tumors were Poodles,Golden Retrieves,Cooker Spaniels,Pomeranians and Mongrels.2.In addition to mammary gland tumors,male dogs are more than twice as likely to develop tumors as female dogs in this study.Skin tumors and mammary gland tumors occur more frequently in unneutered dogs.3.In canine and feline skin tumors,the incidence of benign tumors is more than twice that of malignant tumors in Guangdong.The eight most common skin tumors in dogs were perianal adenoma,mast cell tumor,soft tissue sarcoma,histiocytoma,lipoma,trichoblastoma,trichoepithelioma and sebaceous epithelioma.The five most common skin tumors in cats were mast cell tumor,fibrosarcoma,exocrine adenoma,lipoma,and sebaceous adenoma.4.The results indicated that mammary gland tumors mainly occur in unneutered female dogs and cats,and early neutering can greatly reduce the occurrence of mammary gland tumors.Compared to medium and large breed dogs,mammary gland tumors occur most frequently in small dogs,including Poodles,Pomeranian,Chihuahuas,Peking dogs,and Mongrels.Malignant tumors are more common than benign tumors in canine mammary gland tumors,while the vast majority of feline mammary tumors are malignant.Part II Clinical efficacy of treatment of malignant mammary gland tumors in dogs and cats with modified Chaihu Shugan Powder Twenty canine and feline malignant mammary gland tumors were randomly selected and randomly divided into two groups.In the traditional Chinese medicine treatment group,10 cases were treated with bupleurum shugan powder plus or minus prescription for 3 months after surgical resection of malignant mammary gland tumors;in the control group,10 cases were treated only by surgical resection of malignant mammary gland tumors without other treatments.For dogs and cats treated with traditional Chinese medicine,red blood cells,white blood cells,platelets,liver and kidney function were detected during the experiment.Adverse reactions of dogs and cats in the traditional Chinese medicine treatment group were recorded and scored by questionnaire,including vomiting,dilution,loss of appetite,depression and polyuria,and the adverse reactions were graded according to the score.The results showed that the disease-free survival and overall survival of dogs and cats in the traditional Chinese medicine treatment group treated with modified Chaihu Shugan Powder for 3 months after surgery were prolonged by 2～3 months compared with the control group,and the one-year survival rate and two-year survival rate of dogs and cats in the traditional Chinese medicine treatment group were improved by more than 20%compared with the control group.During the treatment with modified Chaihu Shugan Powder,there was no significant effect on hematocrit,white blood cells,platelets and kidney function in experimental dogs and cats in the treatment group of traditional Chinese medicine,while the liver function of experimental dogs and cats was improved,and the vast majority of dogs and cats showed no obvious side effects.The results showed that modified Chaihu Shugan Powder had obvious curative effect in the treatment of malignant mammary gland tumors in dogs and cats after surgery,and it was worth popularizing and applying in the clinical practice of dogs and cats. |
