Mammary gland tumors are one of the common diseases in dogs, and more than half are malignant.A poor prognosis in a malignant mammary gland tumor can result in a double emotional and economic loss for the pet owner. In order to clarify the pathogenesis of canine mammary gland tumors, explore the pathogenesis and optimize the clinical treatment plan, this study summarized 109 cases of canine mammary gland tumors in Xi'an Animal Hospital of Northwest A&F University in the past 5 years, focusing on the analysis of the dogs' gender, age, birth history and past medical history and the relationship between the incidence of canine mammary gland tumors;20 cases of dogs with mammary gland tumors tissue were histologically classified;and 24 cases of mammary gland tumors dogs were tested, including eight dogs with benign mammary gland tumors were treated by surgical resection.Sixteen dogs with malignant mammary gland tumors were treated with surgery alone, surgery together with carboplatin or with oral administration Tamoxifen. The survival analysis method was used to evaluate the efficacy of each treatment. The results showed:(1)Out of 109 cases of canine mammary gland tumors,107 cases(98.17%)were female,2 cases(1.83%)were male;dogs between 7 and 11 years old are frequently found, and the distribution curve of the number of cases in this age group is parabolic;dogs with no sterilization or birth history are more susceptible to mammary gland tumors.Poodles and German shepherds are more common than other breeds;dogs with pure dogs' food are the least.Dogs with a history of pyometra are more susceptible to mammary gland tumors.(2)Among 20 cases of canine breast tumors,16 cases were malignant(80.00%)and 4 cases were benign(20%),including 16 cases(80.00%)of malignant mammary gland tumors and 4 cases(20.00%)of benign mammary gland tumors.Malignant mammary gland tumors include carcinoma in situ(6 cases,30.00%),invasive ductal carcinoma(4 cases,20.00%),papillary carcinoma(3 cases,15.00%),squamous cell carcinoma(2 cases,10.00%)and mixed cancer(1 case,5.00%)5 types;mammary gland tumors including papillary adenoma(2 cases,10.00%),adenoma(1 case,5.00%)and adenofibroma(1 case,5.00%)3 types.(3)The number of mammary gland tumors dogs in left or right breast regions was 12 cases(60.00%)and 8 cases(40.00%)respectively;the front chest(1 case,5.00%),the back chest(2 cases,10.00%),the front abdomen(3 cases,15.00%),posterior abdomen(6 cases,30.00%)and groin(8 cases,40.00%),of which the sum of the number from the groin and the posterior abdomen accounted for 70.00% of the total.(4)The surgical resection of 4 dogs with benign mammary gland tumors had a good prognosis. After surgical resection and carboplatin chemotherapy in dogs with malignant mammary gland tumors, the survival rate(75.00%)was the highest, and the average overall survival(562.5 d)and median survival(90 d)of the dogs were the longest. The above results indicate that in the cases of canine mammary gland tumors admitted to the Xi'an Animal Hospital of Northwest A&F University, the middle and old aged female dogs are more common, and the dogs without sterilization and a history of childbearing are more susceptible to disease;the canine mammary gland tumors are more common in the inguinal and posterior abdomen, and most of them are malignant gland tumors;the dogs with benign mammary gland tumors always achieve good prognosis after surgical treatment.surgical excision combined with chemotherapy is the best treatment for the dogs suffered malignant mammary gland tumors.
