The outbreak of novel coronavirus infection in 2019(COVID-19,renamed novel coronavirus infection in December 2022,hereinafter referred to as COVID-19 infection)has become a global public health emergency, posing a huge threat to human life and health, economic development and social stability. In the process of prevention and control of COVID-19 infection, emergency medical facilities were insufficient due to the emergency situation and the lack of emergency plans. As a green space for urban disaster prevention and avoidance, suburban parks have certain transformation conditions, but have not been efficiently invested in the response to this public health emergency. Therefore, research is being conducted on whether rural parks are suitable for conversion into emergency medical facilities, establishing an evaluation index system, and proposing relevant planning and construction strategies. The study used literature research methods to sort out relevant research on the response to sudden public health events.Based on the research results of the health benefits and disaster prevention and avoidance functions of park green space,it summarized the three basic links of park green space in controlling disease transmission and the positive role of spatial response.By using the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method, five criteria layers were determined for location conditions, carrying capacity, transportation conditions, green landscape, and infrastructure conditions, with 14 evaluation indicators set under them. The weights of the indicators were determined using the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP)and entropy weight methods, and an evaluation system was constructed.Conduct research and evaluation on 29 suburban parks in Hohhot city through on-site research method.Propose planning and construction strategies for these spatial elements through a multidisciplinary comprehensive research approach. The research results show that there are only four rural parks in Hohhot that are suitable for epidemic control conversion, and the overall epidemic control conversion capacity is relatively lacking. The main unsuitable factors exist in three aspects: location conditions, carrying capacity, and infrastructure conditions.Taking the above content as the starting point, the study proposes the following planning and construction strategies: in terms of spatial layout, starting from three aspects:distance from the city, wind direction relationship, and water source protection, with the goal of strictly preventing the overflow of the epidemic, defining suitable and unsuitable conversion areas. In terms of transportation,it is best to focus on the maximum spatial radiation range, with overlapping areas of land and rail transportation being the preferred choice. In terms of carrying capacity,it is proposed to expand elastic epidemic prevention land, control terrain, and integrate spatial elements to address issues such as insufficient resilience.Landscape greening emphasizes the combination of isolation and recuperation, while configuring layered and antibacterial landscape plants, while also taking into account the shaping of therapeutic landscapes.Infrastructure advocates for incorporating rural parks into urban emergency plans as soon as possible, adding large public buildings, and alleviating the lack of timeliness and convenience in the transition from epidemic prevention to control. The research conclusion explores the spatial layout and internal design strategies of epidemic prevention and transformation in rural parks, with the aim of improving the efficiency and safety level of epidemic prevention and transformation in rural parks, and providing ideas and suggestions for the planning and construction of future emergency medical facilities.
