| Hanzhong is located in the upper basin of the Han River between the Qinling Mountains and the Daba Mountains in the southwest of Shaanxi Province,in the transition zone between the warm northern temperate zone and the subtropical climate. It was the birthplace of the Western Han Dynasty and a military stronghold for the Northern Expedition of the Three Kingdoms of Shu and Han,and many ancient Qin and Shu roads intersected here. The three ruins of the Western Han Dynasty, enclosed by the Drinking Horse Pond, the Ancient Han Terrace and the Altar of Worship, are the essence of Hanzhong’s history and culture, and have been approved as the second batch of historical and cultural districts in Shaanxi Province. In the context of historical and cultural conservation and urban regeneration, the study of the revitalization and dynamic renewal of the West Han historical and cultural district in Hanzhong City has important theoretical significance and application value.Taking the historic and cultural districts of the three Western Han sites as the research object, through a focused survey of seven provincial-level historic and cultural districts in the Hanzhong area and a comparative survey of 25 historic and cultural districts in Ankang,Shangluo,Longnan and northern Sichuan, detailed information on the basic overview, spatial characteristics and architectural style of the historic and cultural districts was collected, and a summary analysis revealed the prevalent problems related to street texture, building quality, infrastructure, public space, traffic flow The survey also identified problems related to street texture, building quality, infrastructure, public space, traffic flow, commercial business and other current issues. In response to the problems of the historic and cultural districts, the theories of cultural revitalisation, dynamic regeneration, urban heritage conservation, organic regeneration and sustainable development are applied, and the evolution and value of the historic and cultural districts of Hanzhong’s three sites are analysed, drawing on examples of regeneration practices in historic districts at home and abroad. It extracts the characteristic elements of the Hanzhong San Ruins Historic District, such as the layout of the district, street and lane forms, courtyard spaces, construction techniques and architectural styles, and summarises the elements of cultural revitalisation, such as following the mountains and water, straight streets and curved lanes, long courtyards with rectangular bases, main halls and side rooms, and long front sections and back sections. The results show that environmental dynamics such as population structure, traffic patterns, usage functions and cultural concepts have a decisive influence on the revitalisation of historic and cultural districts, and have certain theoretical significance for the conservation theory and renewal of historic and cultural districts in Hanzhong City and the neighbouring areas. On the basis of protecting the traditional characteristics of the historic and cultural districts, the elements of cultural revitalisation are taken as the leading factors, and the ideas and principles of the renewal of the historic districts of the three sites in Hanzhong are determined according to the requirements of the new era of use and changes in environmental factors, and specific dynamic renewal strategies are proposed in terms of protecting the pattern of the districts, revitalising the street space, optimising the quality of the courtyards, improving the construction techniques and inheriting the overall style,so as to realise the transformation of the historic and cultural districts The project has a strong practical application value for the renovation and urban renewal of historical and cultural districts in Hanzhong, southern Shaanxi Province. |
