As China’s urbanization process continues to rapidly advance, urban spaces are becoming more polycentric and networked, and residents are using more diverse modes of transportation.Rail transport has become the preferred choice for daily travel due to its advantages such as large carrying capacity, long service distance, and punctual arrival. The area around rail stations,as an important connection space, not only supports the operation of the rail system but also links with the city, and its quality directly affects residents’ travel experience. With the implementation of the priority development strategy of public transport and the continuous growth of the rail network, the optimization and enhancement of the non-motorized transportation spaces around rail stations have become the focus of urban regeneration work.Based on this, this paper summarizes relevant literature at home and abroad and takes the non-motorized transportation spaces around rail stations as the research object. It focuses on the traveler’s experience from a micro perspective and adopts a questionnaire survey method, literature review method, and field research method to screen evaluation indexes.Using the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP)hierarchical analysis method, the evaluation system of non-motorized transportation spaces around rail stations is established in three dimensions: convenience, safety, and comfort. This system summarizes the advantages and shortcomings of the non-motorized transportation spaces around rail stations, analyzes the relevance of rating indicators in the evaluation system, explores the relevance of different evaluation indicators, and analyzes respondents’ satisfaction with the evaluation indicators according to their social attributes.Based on this, optimization strategies are proposed from the perspectives of path continuity, refinement of micro-environmental facilities, slowmoving friendliness, and all-age appropriateness, with a view to providing new ideas for the optimization of non-motorized transportation spaces around rail stations in the future. In this research, the background, purpose, and significance of the study are explained, relevant concepts are clarified, the research object and scope are defined, the research content and methods are sorted out,the research framework of the thesis is constructed, relevant research results at home and abroad are summarized, and suitable evaluation methods for this study are screened to lay the foundation for subsequent research. The paper then combines the needs of travelers, selects evaluation indicators, forms a three-level evaluation system of "target-criteria-indicator," and constructs a model for evaluating non-motorized transportation spaces around rail stations. The paper selects actual cases of non-motorized transportation spaces around rail stations that are more mature in development, and based on the current situation, the evaluation results are derived and analyzed according to the evaluation model, providing more credible and scientific support for subsequent optimization. Finally, based on the three criteria of convenience, safety, and comfort,as well as social factors, the evaluation and analysis results are used to propose an optimization strategy that combines relevant key areas to optimize the design and improve the comprehensive quality of the nonmotorized transportation spaces around rail stations in a point-by-point approach.
