| It has been more than 50 years since the construction of China’s underground railways and has now entered a phase of rapid development.While improving the function of the metro space,public art has been introduced to shape the cultural image of the metro and help to pass on regional culture.Today,audiences are eager to gain emotional resonance and cultural identity from metro public art.In order to meet the growing cultural and artistic needs of audiences,this study intervenes in metro public art research through the concept of collective memory and optimises public art design strategies.Firstly,it explains the value of using the concept of collective memory in metro public art research,and establishes that metro public art expressions and design elements are important factors influencing collective identity.Secondly,data coding and analysis of audience interviews using rooting theory were used to deduce that form,function and material are important influencing factors in the expression of public art in the Hohhot metro,as well as five types of Hohhot regional cultural memory elements.Again,based on the forms of expression and cultural memory elements,a public art design strategy for the Hohhot metro that can be recognised by the audience is proposed.Finally,the waiting area of the Hohhot Station metro station is used as a design practice space.In summary,through the concept of collective memory and the analysis method of rooted theory,the research questions are intervened,the audience’s cultural memory elements are scientifically extracted,the public art design strategy of Hohhot Metro based on collective memory is proposed and verified with design practice,and the public art of Hohhot Metro creates an artistic transport space for the audience that triggers cultural memory and collective identity. |
