Modern Power Engineering And Discipline Development (1876-1927)

Power engineering is an emerging discipline in modern higher education,and its fundamental purpose is to cultivate talents matching the modern power industry,so power engineering is also the basis for the development of the power industry and has an important impact on the power industry in modern China.At present,although there is a relatively comprehensive study of higher industrial education and higher engineering education in China,the research on the single discipline of power engineering in higher engineering education is still insufficient,so this paper is based on the establishment of power engineering education institutions to comprehensively investigate and sort out the development of power engineering in modern China.The prototype of the power engineering major is telecommunications education,the early20 th century promulgated the power engineering system to make the power engineering major on the road of institutionalization,in 1908 Shanghai Nanyang Public School established the Department of Electrical Engineering,the modern sense of power engineering major really appeared,after the Xinhai Revolution,the promulgation of the nonzi and the school system of the none,further promoted the institutionalization of the power engineering major.By 1927,some educational institutions in modern China had established a more systematic power engineering major.This paper analyzes the origin,formation and development of power engineering in modern educational institutions,including the late Qing government period and the Beiyang government period,analyzes the power engineering major in modern China from the perspectives of schools,academic system,curriculum,teachers,graduates,etc.,and sorts out the historical context of the development of power engineering and its significance in education,politics,military,industry and other fields.This paper analyzes the origin,formation and development of power engineering in modern educational institutions,including the late Qing government period and the Beiyang government period,analyzes the power engineering major in modern China from the perspectives of schools,academic system,curriculum,teachers,graduates,etc.,and sorts out the historical context of the development of power engineering and its significance in education,politics,military,industry and other fields.Through analysis,as of the establishment of the Nanjing National Government,the development process of power engineering has shown the characteristics of being dominated by "first-mover endogenous" countries,continuous "localization" development,and unbalanced geographical distribution,and cultivated the first batch of power engineering professionals in China,which has accumulated educational resources for the future development of power engineering and promoted the development of China’s industrialization.At the same time,the development of modern China’s power engineering profession has brought certain experience and lessons to the higher engineering education in the current era,and has important enlightenment for the development of today’s higher engineering education.
