| The improvement of the national economic level depends heavily on the building industry,which is the backbone of the economy.The high consumption,high pollution,and high emissions of the construction industry’s crude development approach cannot be sustained,though,as the industry grows and the conflict between resource scarcity and environmental pollution and the traditional development model of the industry becomes more pronounced.Promoting the green and low-carbon transformation of the construction industry,enhancing green innovation capabilities,and achieving sustainable development of the construction industry are urgently needed in order to further alleviate the conflict between the development of the construction industry and the resources and environment.For the construction industry to develop in a way that is sustainable and environmentally friendly,it is important to understand its current state of development and the factors that are impacting it.Based on this,this essay examines the efficiency and influencing elements of green technology innovation in the construction sector and investigates the construction sector’s green and high-quality development route in the Chengdu-Chongqing urban agglomeration.The efficiency of green technology innovation in the construction sector of 16 cities within the Chengdu-Chongqing city cluster is examined in this study from 2011 to 2019.First,the super-efficient SBM model,GML index model,and kernel density estimation model are used to investigate the efficiency of green technology innovation in the construction sector in each city from static and dynamic perspectives.Second,the spatial and temporal evolution characteristics of green technology innovation efficiency in the construction industry are investigated using the standard deviation ellipse model and the gravity model.We then investigate the single-factor and two-factor effects of each driver on the effectiveness of green technology innovation in the construction industry after identifying the pertinent factors using a geographic detector.The study’s conclusions are as follows:(1)There are substantial variations among the cities,but overall the green technology innovation efficiency of the construction sector in the Chengdu-Chongqing city group is rising.While Yibin and Leshan are two cities with a major lack of green technology innovation and low efficiency levels,Chengdu and Chongqing have both achieved greater levels of green technology innovation efficiency than the average level of the Chengdu-Chongqing city group.(2)In the Chengdu-Chongqing city cluster,the eastern green technology innovation efficiency of the construction industry is higher than the western green technology innovation efficiency,but the spatial spillover effect in Chengdu’s western representation is better than that in Chongqing’s eastern representation,and the spatial spillover effect is significantly constrained by distance.The expansion,polarization,and spatial dispersion characteristics of the efficiency of green technology innovation are evident,as is the trend where the high-efficiency area gradually spreads to the lower-efficiency areas around it while the low-efficiency area gradually shrinks in size.(3)The development of green technology has a significant impact on the construction industry in the Chengdu-Chongqing urban agglomeration,but the growth range for green technology innovation efficiency is greater when green technology development and green technology allocation efficiency are jointly promoted.(4)Environmental regulation,economic development,public environmental concern,urbanization level,and foreign direct investment are the main drivers of green technology innovation efficiency in the construction sector,and industry scale is a potential driver too.When the dominant and potential factors interact,their influence on the green technology innovation efficiency of the construction industry is higher than that of a single factor.And the best two-factor combination is the degree of economic development and environmental regulation.Finally,based on the research results of this paper,the multi-subject efforts to improve the level of industry governance modernization;enhance the business climate for technical innovation;and hasten the transformation of the construction sector to one that is low-carbon and green;foster regional technical cooperation and exchanges;and encourage the high-quality development of the construction sector are three aspects to improving the efficiency of green technology innovation in the construction industry.In order to accelerate the green and sustainable development of the construction industry in the Chengdu-Chongqing urban agglomeration,it is expected to offer theoretical assistance and decision-making guidance. |
