The wind power industry is experiencing rapid development and constant changes. In order to stand out and secure a certain market position in this industry that is always at the forefront of technology,it is crucial for companies to embrace the digital and intelligent development trends of the current era. Therefore, digital transformation has become the primary choice for many companies to survive and thrive in the industry. The ever-changing external environment requires companies to transform their existing digital resources in a targeted manner, upgrade their digital capabilities, build new development capabilities, and improve their value creation methods, thus achieving digital transformation. This article takes Goldwind Science & Technology as a typical case study to examine the driving factors, pathways, and performance of its digital transformation, and draw relevant conclusions and insights.Firstly, the article provides a brief introduction to the development of Goldwind Science & Technology.Secondly,it analyzes the driving factors of the company’s digital transformation from external and internal perspectives.Regarding external factors, the article starts with policy, economic, social, and technological dimensions, suggesting that the policy drivers for Goldwind Science & Technology’s digital transformation stem from the supportive policies for the wind power industry and the regulatory requirements for wind power companies to have high technological support.Economic drivers include the increasing demand for electricity from renewable energy sources, including wind energy, driven by economic development and the need for green economy.Social drivers arise from the rapid urbanization in China, leading to population growth and increased electricity consumption.Technological drivers are derived from the trend of digital economy development. In terms of internal factors, the article analyzes the company’s internal drivers for transformation based on the need to reduce costs and increase efficiency.Subsequently, the article adopts the resource orchestration theory as an evolutionary model to analyze the digital transformation process of Goldwind Science& Technology, which follows the following logic: Firstly, constructing a resource portfolio to develop and accumulate technological resources, digital talent resources, and data resources.Secondly, engaging in resource recombination through the integration of resources such as establishing a digital management platform, building a digital service system, and constructing a smart production system to form various digital capabilities.Thirdly, leveraging the constructed digital platform and digital capabilities to impact the company’s business and operations. Finally, the article evaluates the company’s performance and value growth based on financial indicators such as cost reduction, asset quality improvement, profitability enhancement, and revenue growth,as well as non-financial indicators including promoting research and development innovation, increasing market share, and enhancing brand value. The study affirms the achievements of the company in achieving digital transformation through resource orchestration, which has led to positive growth in performance and value. The conclusions of this article not only complement the research on the impact pathways of resource orchestration on company performance but also enrich the foundational theory of digital transformation in the wind power industry, providing a theoretical basis for digital transformation in the industry.
