Research On The Color Of Public Spaces In Xiguan Historic District From The Perspective Of Place Spirit

The public space of the historic district is the type of space that carries the most and most extensive types of citizens’ activities,and with the participation of various groups of people and the evolution of history,it has gradually generated unique spiritual and cultural values.Guangzhou Xiguan is a typical representative area of Cantonese culture,and the color landscape of its historic district public space must also retain important regional cultural information.However,the rapid advancement of globalization and urban modernization has broken the spiritual context contained in color,and how to achieve the sustainable development of traditional color style in the wave of evolution of the times is particularly important.The core of the research of place spirit is to return to people’s daily life,pay attention to the connection between people and the environment,and attach importance to excavating the spiritual connotation behind the physical space,which has certain applicability to solve the current color problem.Based on the above reasons,this paper will explore the spiritual and cultural connotations contained in color with the help of the research advantages of the spiritual theory of place,in order to find a solution to the current color problem faced by the city.This paper first sorts out the relevant research status of the color of place spirit,historical district public space,Guangzhou Xiguan and historical district,and puts forward the color research idea from the perspective of place spirit based on relevant theories,which has the ideographic function of gathering site cultural information,and can build a bridge of cultural translation through the three dimensions of place spirit and cultural gene,form and material,visual and atmosphere,and then take the generation process of place spirit as the main line,namely " The process of environmental impact on people’s cognition and behavior-human activities give spatial spiritual meaning-color as the spiritual appearance of place",while paying attention to the influencing factors of place spirit in historical changes,and restoring color phenomenon to the "daily life world".The research content mainly includes: the spirit of place in the current public space and its presentation in the color face;The evolution of the spirit and color of places in the temporal dimension.Then,combined with color research technology,color image coordinates and comparative analysis and other research methods,the correlation between place spirit and color is discussed from the current and historical dimensions,and the conclusion is as follows:From the current dimension,the place spirit is the corresponding spiritual characteristics given to the place by different activity experience needs,and the color appearance is based on the spatial combination of color elements of the place spirit,and it is concluded that gathering,commerce,sacrifice and foreign exchange activities shape the living culture,commercial culture,The corresponding residential space,commercial space,temple sacrificial space,and foreign affairs administrative space have respectively calm and quiet and elegant and simple,warm and comfortable and dynamic and warm,solemn and luxurious and secular,warm and leisurely and stable and simple color atmosphere,which further summarizes the orderly characteristics of colors under the guidance of the function of the place,as well as the overall color characteristics of "blue and gray elegant tones,yellow and red warm sun,splendid pointillism".From the historical perspective,the spirit of places in Xiguan area is affected by the evolution of material and conscious activities under the changes of political culture,social economy,science and technology,etc.,and its diversified and integrated place spirit is gradually formed in the collision and integration of traditional Cantonese culture,summarizing the evolution process of color appearance from a single blue gray,warm yellow and red to a mixture of yellow and red and green gray,and the evolution law of place spiritual renewal based on regional origin,adapting to the environment of the times and focusing on artificial color elements.Finally,based on the above research content,from the perspective of historical protection and modern inheritance,the semiotic method is used to extract color symbols such as cyan-gray,beige,brick red,etc.,and different color situations are created based on the authenticity of various places,and the color material carrier of Xiguan culture is updated with an open and inclusive attitude,so as to realize the continuation and inheritance of the regional color of the public space of Xiguan Historic District.
