Research On Spirit Of Place And Residents’ Cognition Under The Urban Historicprotection

The spirit of place is an important concept of architecture, which has important significance for the study of historic districts. With the development of city construction and old city reconstruction, many historic blocks that own cultural value are suffering from being destroyed or rebuilt. Taking historic districts in the view of "place" can protect their spirit of place from being overlooked, which may lead to lost its essence.This paper takes SanFangQiXiang as an example, basing on the analysis of paper to illustrate the constitute of SanFangQiXiang’s spirit of place in depth, then reexamine the connotation of its spirit of place by the way of analyzing its natural environment, artificial environment and human environment.lt can be easily concluded that SanFangQiXiang has notable features:Firstly, excellent natural environment, it is in the center of the city landscape which is an important part of the Fuzhou; Secondly, significant artificial environment, both the especial and pleasant lane pattern, delicate construction, reflecting elegant pursuit; Thirdly, intense cultural atmosphere, celebrities gathered by culture communication and marriages,which forms the link of "elite culture" and folk culture.In addition, with the protection of the historic districts, people’s sence of the spirit of place is changing. In order to investigate this phenomenon, this study supported by empirical analysis, taking into account the changes of natural environment is relatively small, this research studies respondents’perception of artificial environment and human environment. The field investigation aims to find that the existing problems, it shows that:(1)People’s perception of artificial environment is different from human environment. (2)The differences of characteristics of Sociology of population and behavioral characteristics can lead to different perception of the spirit of place. The result can provide some new ideas for its protections and similar blocks’renewal. Finally, the paper puts forward some suggestions:first, stress regional culture and enhance the charm of cultural; secondly, the continuation of the historic district outlook, highlighting its features; thirdly, coordination between traditional and modern commercial business, protecting ancient lanes and historic blocks.The papaer comes up with policy on the basis of field investigation:First, make full use of historic districts’ natural environment, and maintain its original style; Second,preserve the historic districts’ culture and enhance the historic district’ cultural charm;Third,coordinate the relationship between traditional and modern commerce, as well as protect ancient lanes and historic district.
