Study On The Design Of The Public Architecture Of Waliluo Of Yi Village Based On The Spirit Of Place

Since the reform and open up in China,with the continuous acceleration of Chinese urbanization process,the homogeneity of village architectural design has become more and more common.The same architectural style has been applied to towns and villages,making rural buildings lose their regional characteristics.The public buildings in the village,as the most symbolic transportation of the culture and the expression of the territorial environment,have great impacts on the traditional values of local residents with a unified modern appearance,while at the same time eroding their sense of regional identity and belonging.Designers are supposed to consider how to continue the regional cultural characteristics through public buildings and enhance the residents’ emotional identity and cultural experience.This article is guided by the theory of "the spirit of place",and takes Waliluo of Yi village in Liangshan as the research object.First,it explores the spatial characters of Waliluo from the generation of the the spirit of place.The three levels of microcosm(residential house)summarize the specific space forms produced under the influence of spatial characteristics.The analysis shows that,from the macro-level perspective,due to the special surroundings and limited production ability,the living environment and natural environment of the Yi people reflect a symbiotic state.Furthermore,at the meso-level,from the village perspective,because of the affects on the layout of the dwellings from social factors and spiritual factors,spatial shape in the level shows a “potential” state.Nevertheless,at the micro-level,from the perspective of traditional dwellings,the spatial form can be summarized as that using the fire pond space as an activity center,different functions are divided by a horizontal and vertical three-segment layouts.Whats more,based on this,the article explores how the design of the public buildings in Waliluo of Yi village presents the unique spirit of the place in Liangshan,and considered how to design primary school,activity center and tourist service center in Waliluo based on the usage of the land now.Firstly,how the primary teaching space shows the traditional culture of Yi.Also,how the activity centers respond to the site and the activity requests of the villagers.Thirdly,how the visitor service center not only shows its function but alsoreflects the local traditional space form and culture,while provides local villagers with certain functional needs.Finally,according to former analysis,the design principles and methodologies are summarized also the specific design is accomplished.Waliluo of Yi village is located in the core area of Yi in Liangshan.With the development of the rural revitalization strategy,the tourism development in Waliluo area has been continuously promoted,and the role of rural public buildings in acquiring wealth has become increasingly important.The author hopes that this investigation can provide an effective reference for the design of public buildings in this area.
