| Urbanized life affects people’s social interaction style,urban residents live independent lives,lack interaction with neighbors,vacuum in daily public life in the community,and decrease community cohesion,requiring effective social support to cope with smaller family sizes,empty nesting,and elderly loneliness.How to enhance neighborhood vitality has become an important issue in current community construction.Social Network Analysis(SNA)originated from the adaptive network in physics,which is a method of combining the relationships between individuals,"micro" networks,and "macro" structures of social systems through mathematical methods of aggregation,graph theory,and other quantitative analysis.macroscopic structure of the social system.As a relational and quantitative approach,it has strong explanatory power in the discipline of urban planning,and social network theory can provide effective analytical methods and dynamical explanations in the enhancement of community public space vitality.This paper hopes to explore the social interaction potential of community remnants by discussing the relationship between individuals,groups,and community public space,and to provide ideas for the vitality regeneration of aging communities.This paper first sorts out the theoretical foundations of vitality research related to social networks and focuses on vitality enhancement research in urban residential communities.Based on on-site research interviews and data statistics,social network analysis is conducted in the Zunyi neighborhood in Changning District,Shanghai as the actual object,and it is concluded that the Zunyi neighborhood has the characteristics of loose social network connections and mismatch between community spatial networks and residents’ behavioral networks.Then,we propose strategies to improve the vitality of urban residential neighborhoods from three levels: social network environment,spatial network environment,and community culture environment.Finally,the research results are applied to the design practice of the Zunyi neighborhood in Changning District.This study aims to provide useful references and lessons for community public space vitality enhancement,as well as to provide empirical cases for the application of social network analysis methods in urban planning and social science fields. |
