| China and Europe are in the international energy market where traditional energy sources are unevenly distributed geographically and the demand for traditional energy sources is greater than the supply, while the international energy market has many energy game subjects and covers a wide range of game contents, and the adoption of geopolitical competition makes energy security risks may break out at any time.New energy is more and more favored by the international community for its environmental friendliness, economic efficiency and sustainability, and the development of new energy has become a major trend of the road.China and Europe have been cooperating in the energy field for the need of energy access, new energy development and protection of energy security.Due to similar resource endowments and economic transformation needs,China-Europe energy cooperation tends to be in the field of new energy and focuses on joint research and development of new energy technologies and their products. However, the energy game is fierce and complex. The three major game forces,China, the U.S.and Europe, have formed multiple game relationships in the international energy situation. The U.S.,as a producer and consumer of hydrocarbons, has the right to supply and set prices for energy, and has formed multiple containment of China by pulling together alliances and interfering in the energy market, undermining Sino-European relations and adding obstacles to Sino-European energy cooperation. At the same time, both the EU and China,as two major energy consuming markets, are in competition in energy consumption.Disputes between China and Europe over new energy technologies and economic and trade frictions have led the EU to unequally impose technical barriers on China and restrict the optimization and upgrading of Chinese energy technologies. But overall,China and Europe have coinciding strategies in multilateralism, and a firm commitment to multilateralism and win-win cooperation has enhanced the sustainability of energy cooperation for both sides. The rising US-EU strategic conflict and contradictions have prompted the EU to switch direction and engage more closely in energy exchanges with China.China and Europe can also promote energy transition and meet energy security needs through complementary funding and technology. |
