Research On The Economic Growth Effects Of Energy Cooperation Between China And Kazakhstan

Oil and natural gas,as the material basis for the survival of human society,are necessary conditions for economic development and social progress.As China is the world’s second largest economy and the largest developing country,oil and gas security is an important guarantee for the rapid development of China’s economy and society.As the country with the largest area and richest oil and gas resources in Central Asia,Kazakhstan has important strategic value.It is not only a hub connecting Eurasia,but also a meeting point for the interests of China,the United States,and Russia.China-Kazakhstan oil and gas trade cooperation is highly complementary,under the favorable situation that China-Kazakhstan has good diplomatic relations and geographical advantages,it is necessary to analyze the economic effects of energy cooperation between the two countries to better protect my China’s oil and gas security.Based on the research on China-Kazakhstan energy trade by domestic and foreign scholars,this article first studies the trade status,influencing factors and development trends of China-Kazakhstan energy trade,and deeply explores the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth.Then,combining the actual situation of the two countries,based on the research of the existing literature,construct the energy industry cooperation index,and use the data from 1998 to 2019 to build a vector autoregressive model(VAR)based on two levels to compare and analyze the economic effects of China-Kazakhstan energy trade,Research and explore the relationship between energy cooperation and GDP and trade between the two countries,so as to further demonstrate the importance of China-Kazakhstan energy industry cooperation.The results show: The energy cooperation between China and Kazakhstan is mutually beneficial,and the degree of theoretical explanation of the economic growth of Kazakhstan by the energy cooperation evaluation index is close to that of China;but the actual energy trade volume explains the economic growth of Kazakhstan significantly greater than that of per capital GDP.On the whole,the impact of energy cooperation between the two countries on the gross domestic product of the two countries is showing a positive trend.The level of China’s economic development and the bilateral energy trade between China and Kazakhstan have a positive correlation to the economic development of Kazakhstan to a large extent,Kazakhstan is more dependent on China-Kazakhstan bilateral energy trade,that is,Kazakhstan is more dependent on energy trade with China to solve the problem of oversupply of energy in Kazakhstan.Finally,it puts forward relevant countermeasures and suggestions based on the empirical analysis results of two aspects : Promote the development of China-Kazakhstan energy cooperation and mutual trust,and establish a long-term and stable partnership;Improve tax cooperation mechanism to lay the foundation for providing shared services;Expand cooperation in diversified fields and expand the scale of bilateral trade;Improve the status of international energy governance and make full use of energy governance mechanisms.
