With the development of society, old industrial areas are facing a crisis of being eliminated by the times.Various countries have actively carried out cultural and creative industries in the protection, utilization, and development of industrial heritage, providing a new perspective for China’s revitalization of old industrial bases.China’s research and practice in cultural and creative design mainly focuses on large-scale museums that concentrate on regional and traditional cultural development. The development of industrial culture is mainly concentrated in the fields of architecture, landscape, and spatial design, with less research on the "micro" field of cultural and creative product design. Therefore, there are common problems in the development status of cultural and creative products in old industrial bases, such as insufficient product categories, weak design innovation, and insufficient reflection of industrial cultural value and connotation. This thesis attempts to study the design of industrial cultural and creative products based on the semantic theory that emphasizes meaning communication.Selecting the Former Site Museum of Changchun Film Studio as an example for research, this study aims to explore industrial and cultural resources, explore cultural prototypes and feature extraction, and explore the design and transformation of cultural content.Propose method paths and systematic strategies that can guide design based on research analysis. The first part combines the background of emphasizing industrial cultural heritage and cultural oriented design hotspots, and through theoretical research and case analysis of industrial culture, cultural and creative product design, and semantics, clarifies the innovative significance and research value of studying cultural and creative product design in the old industrial base of Northeast China from a semantic perspective. In the second part, combining semantic theory with the study of cultural and creative products in old industrial bases,a preliminary classification of industrial culture, design opportunities, and design path ideas are proposed. The third part, taking the Former Site Museum of Changchun Film Studio as an example, classifies and organizes its industrial and cultural resources by film industry equipment, industrial heritage architecture, industrial culture and art,and industrial life scenes through on-site research, and analyzes the semantic communication elements of the resource content.By combining design methodology with user preference survey results, the cultural prototype and specific requirements for design and development were clarified. In the fourth part, based on the above research content, design strategies were proposed to expand the emotional experience of industrial culture, continue the functional significance of industrial culture, focus on the value significance of industrial culture, and enhance the aesthetic form of industrial culture for the cultural and creative products of the Former Site Museum of Changchun Film Studio.Design practice research was also conducted. This thesis is a case study of the Former Site Museum of Changchun Film Studio, but it also reflects the thinking of the development of the overall cultural and creative product design of the old industrial base.By exploring the industrial culture resources of the Former Site Museum of Changchun Film Studio,it provides a perspective for the old industrial area to explore its own culture using semiotics and semantics,a way to select cultural prototypes based on semantic communication,a way to reflect the industrial culture connotation in cultural and creative products, and a targeted design strategy to integrate cultural characteristics into cultural and creative products. It provides a certain reference and guidance for enhancing the development of cultural and creative product design in the context of revitalizing old industrial bases.
