| With a long history and splendid culture,the city of Changsha has formed a profound historical and cultural foundation with humanistic colors over thousands of years.As the most intuitive carrier of a city’s information,place names record the past changes of Changsha city,from which the historical trajectory of Changsha’s urban cultural development can be appreciated.Therefore,the study of the cultural landscape of Changsha’s streets and alleys has important practical significance for the protection of historical relics and urban development and construction.The study analyzes the urban landscape from the perspective of cultural landscape of place names,based on the theories of cultural ecology and linguistic landscape theory,with the help of ArcGIS software and relevant spatial analysis methods,to explore the historical development,spatial evolution and landscape characteristics of street names,and the main research results are as follows:(1)The spatial distribution of Changsha’s street and alley place names shows a central clustering feature and gradually spreads in a circle around,and the areas with high nuclear density values of each type of place names are concentrated in the old city area of Changsha;the spatial and temporal distribution of place names is uneven,dating back to the Song Dynasty at the earliest,and the overall number of place names was small before the Republic of China,but the number of street and alley place names increased sharply with the expansion of the city after the founding of the People’s Republic of China.(2)The number of each type of street names varies greatly,and the number of humanistic landscape names accounts for 65.46%,much more than natural landscape names.The natural landscape names vividly reflect the urban landscape of Changsha as a "mountainous city",while the humanistic landscape names mainly reflect the history,culture,politics,commerce,religion,customs and other humanistic features of Changsha,such as beauty and emotion,administrative division,economic activities and historical buildings.The number of street and alley names has developed from "streetalley" to "road-road-street-alley-li",and the number of names has gone through the development process from less to more and tends to decrease,and finally tends to standardize gradually.(3)Changsha street names have cultural,historical and tourism values,but there are also cases of old names disappearing and new names lacking characteristics,so five inheritance and utilization strategies have been proposed.Firstly,we should evaluate and investigate the place names and build a place name evaluation system;secondly,we should restore valuable old place names;thirdly,we should plan new place names according to regional characteristics;fourthly,we should explore the tourism value of place names,especially old street names;fifthly,we should create a landscape for street name carriers and carry out the work of inheritance and utilization of street names in all aspects.Through this study,I have sorted out the cultural lineage of street and alley place names in Changsha,obtained the characteristics of the spatial and temporal distribution pattern of street and alley place names in Changsha,and discussed the heritage utilization strategy of street and alley place names,which provides some scientific basis for the development and protection of street and alley place name resources in Changsha. |
