At present, the elderly population over 65 years old accounts for about 13.50%,and is about to enter a deep aging society.Among them, elderly dementia patients account for a quarter of the total number of dementia patients in the world.Dementia is a chronic disease with high incidence in the elderly. The existing drug therapy has limited effect, and most patients rely on non-drug therapy to delay the course of disease. And the healing design can arouse the good feelings in the heart of the user to obtain mental pleasure. Therefore, this paper proposes an intervention of healing design based on emotional design for non-pharmacological therapy for elderly people with dementia, and conducts research on the design of healing home products for elderly people with dementia. The target population for the design study is elderly people with mild to moderate dementia who are self-reliant or need assistance. The paper mainly applies healing design theory based on emotional design and experimental psychology, and uses scientific research methods such as literature research and on-site investigations to gradually carry out research on the design of healing home products for elderly people with dementia.Firstly.the paper summarizes the core symptoms and behavioral characteristics of elderly people with dementia, and based on the healing design theory, discusses the three healing levels of instinctive intuition, behavioral evidence, and reflective analysis.By analyzing different emotional healing methods in detail using relevant product design cases, the paper lays a theoretical foundation for later research.Secondly, the paper uses the method of paired comparison in experimental psychology preference research to conduct experiments on the healing preferences of elderly people with dementia for home product color, material, and style. The paper explores the preference order of color, material, and style for elderly people with dementia,as well as the preference differences among different genders and ages. The preference data obtained is analyzed and processed using SPSS software, and the results show that the color preferences of elderly people with dementia are blue, red, gray, white, purple, orange, pink, green, yellow, and black in descending order;the material preferences are fabric, bamboo and rattan, wood, leather, and metal in descending order;and the style preferences are European style, rural style,Chinese style, and modern style in descending order. The experimental results have certain reliability and can provide reference for the design of healing home products for elderly people with dementia. Finally, based on the experimental research results and theoretical analysis, the paper summarizes and generalizes the design elements and methods of healing home products for elderl),people with dementia from the three healing levels of instinctive intuition, behavioral evidence, and reflective analysis. The design at the instinctive intuition level should achieve the healing effect of form, color, and material;the design at the behavioral evidence level should meet the functional needs of elderly people with dementia,be easy and enjoyable to manipulate, and provide a rich emotional experience;and the design at the reflective analysis level should achieve the healing effect of awakening memories and triggering emotional resonance.Furthermore, through design practice, the paper attempts to provide reference for the design of home products for elderly people with dementia. The research in this paper has expanded the theory of product design for curing, enriched non-drug therapy for dementia, and provided a new perspective for product design innovation for elderly people with dementia. At the same time,it can create a more comfortable and healing living environment for elderly people with dementia, delay the course of dementia, and help reduce a series of social pressures brought by dementia.
