Since Since the industrial revolution,the production and life style of human beings have undergone historic changes.The extensive application of engineering technology has brought great wealth to human society,but at the same time it has also caused threats and challenges such as the deterioration of ecological environment and the exhaustion of natural resources.Therefore,it has become an international consensus to maintain the balance of ecological environment and create a more sustainable future.Since the 1960s,the international community began to reflect on the problems of environment and development and actively seek solutions,and successively put forward the concept and goal of sustainable development.Engineering itself needs the world to start transformative development in order to meet the multifaceted challenges faced by mankind.However,at present,most countries do not have the engineering technology ability to directly change the ecological environment problems and create a sustainable future.Therefore,it is necessary to bring the solutions of key sustainable development problems into the education and teaching of engineering students through innovation and reform of engineering education,so as to cultivate engineering talents facing the future.For our country,coping with the change of ecological environment system is both a challenge and an opportunity.It is necessary for higher education institutions to take the initiative to play a key role for the country to achieve the sustainable development goals,actively incorporate the concept of sustainability into the talent training strategy,and provide technical support and talent guarantee for the implementation of the sustainable development goals.In view of the above-mentioned practical problems and theoretical demands,this research takes "how to train engineering talents who meet the needs of future sustainable development and have the core literacy of sustainable development by implementing sustainable development engineering education" as the core research question,and from this,three sub-research questions are carried out:(1)the core literacy composition that sustainable development engineering talents should have;(2)What correct measures should the school take to guide the composition of core literacy;(3)According to the existing practical experience of sustainable development engineering education at home and abroad,the countermeasures and suggestions for future sustainable development engineering personnel training are put forward.Based on the above research questions,this research adopts qualitative and quantitative research methods,and preliminarily puts forward and summarizes the core literacy framework of engineering talents for sustainable development with the help of literature reading and multi-case studies,including three main dimensions of knowledge,skills and attitudes,and subdivided specific abilities.It is concluded that in the process of training engineering talents,education and training in the aspects of sustainable development concept,curriculum setting and graduation requirements can promote students’ mastery of the core literacy of sustainable development.And further integrate with practice,from(1)implementing the sustainable development strategy;(2)Integrate the concept of sustainable development into engineering education;(3)The countermeasures and suggestions of cultivating sustainable development engineering talents in domestic universities are put forward from three aspects,such as improving the support and guarantee of sustainable development education,In order to improve the domestic research on sustainable development engineering education,cultivate the shortage of talents for the country to promote the sustainable development strategy,and make contributions to accelerating the construction of Community of Shared Future for Mankind.
