A Study On The Application Of Narrative Landscape In The Environmental Design Of Traditional Villages In Southern Hunan

With the development of rural revitalization,the value and connotation of traditional villages in southern Hunan are getting more and more attention.However,the development of these villages has also brought about some issues,such as severe homogenization,poor maintenance of historic buildings,disharmony between new and old village styles,and loss of local memory.It is a pressing issue to find ways to modernize the village environment while preserving cultural heritage and enhancing the quality of spatial experience in the process of traditional village environmental renovation.This article focuses on the problem of the decline of the traditional villages in southern Hunan and the loss of local cultural memory in the process of social development.It introduces the concept of narrative landscape and landscape design,and explores the application of narrative landscape in the environmental renovation design of traditional villages in southern Hunan based on people’s essential need for narrative.Firstly,through literature research on the basic concept of narrative landscape,the research scope of traditional villages in southern Hunan is defined,and the significance of narrative landscape in the environmental transformation design of traditional villages in southern Hunan is analyzed.Secondly,the basic situation and existing problems of traditional villages in southern Hunan are expounded,and narrative landscape elements and design expression carriers are discovered,and the narrative framework and theory of village landscape are constructed.Meanwhile,based on the successful narrative landscape design cases,the application strategies and principles of narrative landscape design for the environmental characteristics of traditional villages in southern Hunan are explored.Finally,taking the ancient village of Xiaguan in Yongzhou City as an example,the narrative resources of the ancient village and its connection with the landscape space are analyzed,and the narrative themes of the ancient village are summarized,and a narrative transformation design is carried out for the environment of the ancient village.The purpose of the thesis is to enhance the emotional experience of the perceiving subject to the traditional village environment,to retell the story of the landscape and to reshape the spirit of the place,in order to better protect and develop the traditional villages,to provide ideas and references for better telling the story of rural villages in southern Hunan and to retain the local memories.
