In recent years,General Secretary Xi Jinping has emphasized the value of cultural heritage and the importance of protecting cultural heritage on many occasions.In order to thoroughly implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19 th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China,and strengthen the protection of historical culture,on January 26,2021,the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development issued the "Notice on Further Strengthening the Protection of Historical and Cultural Districts and Historical Buildings",It provides legal guarantee for the protection of historical and cultural districts.As an important part of cultural heritage,historical and cultural blocks can provide vivid materials and rich resources for the development of ideological and political education.Making good use of historical and cultural blocks can play a strong role in ideological and political education.In the context of the new era,implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping’s spirit of strengthening historical and cultural protection and strengthening the research on the ideological and political education functions of historical and cultural blocks is conducive to inheriting the red gene and enhancing people’s political identity.It is found that there is a deep understanding of the important value of the historical and cultural blocks,but little understanding of how to use them for ideological and political education.The functions and advantages of ideological and political education in the historical and cultural blocks are theoretically enough to support the effective ideological and political education.However,the expected effect of ideological and political education in historical and cultural blocks has been weakened in practice.This is closely related to the insufficient exploitation of educational functions,the simple and inefficient way of value realization,the insufficient cultural propaganda and the over-emphasis on economic benefits.It is undoubtedly an important way to strengthen the protection of history and culture to carry out effective ideological and political education by making use of the historical and cultural resources of the historical and cultural blocks.Therefore,it is necessary to strengthen academic research,carry out cultural activities,create fine culture,and make a reasonable plan to promote the establishment of a benign interactive relationship between the two sides,thus,the function of ideological and political education in historical and cultural blocks can be effectively brought into play.
