| The Dunhuang grotto art is an outstanding representative of the excellent traditional Chinese culture.A large number of landscape garden images have been discovered in the Dunhuang murals,which clearly show the performance of gardens from the Northern Wei Dynasty to the Yuan Dynasty,reflecting the aesthetic thoughts of gardens in different periods,as well as the organic integration of Buddhist art and traditional Chinese thoughts.This article takes a starting point from the landscape garden images in Dunhuang frescoes,through extensive reading of academic literature,collates and rearranges the theoretical achievements of the images of landscape architecture in Dunhuang frescoes,thoughts of landscape architecture,and traditional Chinese philosophy,and conducts a systematic study with reference to the garden thought in Chinese landscape paintings.Firstly,the core concept of landscape architecture in Dunhuang frescoes is clarified and the characteristics of landscape architecture images presented in different historical contexts were analyzed.Secondly,referring to the characteristics of landscape gardens in Dunhuang frescoes,the landscape compositional elements in different eras were extracted,classified and sorted out according to their features by utilizing image analysis method,and the expression thoughts of Dunhuang frescoes were summarized from the perspectives of artistic expression,spatial representation,and temporal representation by using contrast analysis method.Thirdly,by analyzing the background of the aesthetic formation of landscape architecture in Dunhuang frescoes,such as society,politics,economy and culture,it summarizes the reasons for the formation of aesthetic thoughts,and analyzes the characteristics of aesthetic thoughts according to the reasons for the formation of aesthetic thoughts.Finally,based on traditional Chinese philosophical thoughts and Dunhuang philosophical theories,combined with the expression thoughts and aesthetic thoughts of landscape architecture in Dunhuang murals,the philosophical thoughts of landscape architecture in Dunhuang murals were discussed from the dimensions of Buddhist philosophical thoughts,Taoist philosophical thoughts and Confucian philosophical thoughts.Combining the three aspects of garden expression thought,aesthetic thought and philosophical thought,it can be concluded that the landscape architecture in Dunhuang frescoes represents the philosophical thought of the integration of Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism.They serve as the guiding ideology for aesthetic creation,drawing inspiration from the diverse cultures that converged along the Silk Road.Emulating nature as an aesthetic concept,they envision an ideal world as an aesthetic pursuit,focusing on the aesthetic creativity throughout the development of Dunhuang murals.This ultimately forms a grand and magnificent aesthetic style of landscape architecture.The study of the thought of landscape architecture in Dunhuang murals can enrich the research achievements of Dunhuang studies,preserves local garden culture,and further dig the connotation of Chinese garden thoughts.It aims to contribute to the field of Dunhuang studies and provide certain guidance for the thoughts of garden design. |
