Study On Aesthetic Thought Of Martha Schwarz

Compared with the other art forms, landscape design is lack of sensitivity to flow the trend.The design philosophy and creative expression is rather monotonous. Martha Schwarz is a pioneer of modernism in landscape design field, in her works,we can not only see the inheritance of classicism and modernism, but also a post modernist unconventional with characteristics of elements in the creation of diverse. The fundamental reason of why her works are so characteristics is that she is step to the trend closely and forms unique aesthetic thought of her own. So the study of her aesthetic thought can make us understand her works more deeply. With Martha Schwarz’s grow-up experience and the art trend in the specific time as a background of why her aesthetic thought forms, and then through analyzing Martha Schwarz’s landscape architecture works、installation art works and what she has said,I conclude the aesthetic thought of Martha Schwarz. That is:(1) Although Martha Schwarz opposed to the thought that people and nature are the opposing sides, she consider that original natural is chaos, only joined the artificial marks that can create the regular order.(2) Martha Schwarz thinks that the beauty of works is not only reflected on the elegant and continue, but also the creative process, behavior and experience.(3) Through the performance of "ugly" image, Martha Schwarz want to lead the viewer’s attention and arouse them thinking.(4) Focusing on the beauty of historical context can make the work has its own characteristics.
