This paper would like to provide new ideas for the modern interior design by studying reclusive thought in modern interior design. While inheriting and developing traditional Chinese culture with modern interior design.This paper starts from the origin thought of hermit, Discussing the causes of Chinese early hermit by studying the Confucian hermit thought and the Taoist hermit thought. Then analyze different characteristics of the thought of Confucianism and Taoism seclusion. Next, sorting out the development and characteristics of different historical periods of seclusion, and analyze the reclusive phenomenon of modern society. Based on previous research, analyze what is the aesthetic tendency of Confucian hermit and Taoist hermit on the environment of seclusion by historical data. Further, through privacy design case to discussing the design status and problems of privacy in the modern interior design. Finally, summarize the specific design style and expression hermit thought in modern interior environmental design.
