With the popularization and development of higher education,higher education concept,education model,learning model,demands of teachers and students are changing.Chinese college education has changed from the traditional education mode focusing on teachers,textbooks and theory to the one centered on students,classrooms and practice,aiming at cultivating innovative and high quality complex talents for the country.The building of the Department of Architecture has become the main place for students’ daily life,study and communication,as well as the direct field for students’ initial understanding of architecture and space.The traditional space design of the architecture department can no longer meet all kinds of learning needs to some extent.The learning mode centering on informal learning accounts for a high proportion in the daily learning life of the architecture department.The new informal learning mode of interactive,autonomous,cooperative,research and interactive is more advocated.Therefore,this paper takes the learning mode of architecture students as the entry point to discuss how the informal learning space of architecture department libraries in universities responds to the constantly changing learning mode and how to give full play to the existing value of architecture department libraries.Under the background of the change of higher education system,education idea and learning mode,this paper introduces the characteristics of informal learning behaviors and the types of informal learning space required by architecture departments in universities.By means of interdisciplinary research,literature research,field research,questionnaire survey and other methods,this paper analyzes and studies the informal learning Spaces of representative architecture department libraries at home and abroad,and summarizes the types and characteristics of informal learning Spaces of architecture department libraries in universities and colleges and some existing problems by means of comparative analysis and summary.Then it analyzes and summarizes the design principles and strategies of informal learning space.Finally,a practical case--optimization of informal learning space in Architecture Department Hall of Xi ’an University of Architecture and Science and Technology gives feasibility and practical support.The full text is divided into chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,which introduces the research background,research status at home and abroad,related concepts,research content,research methods,research purpose and significance.The second chapter makes a theoretical research and analysis on the informal learning behavior,informal learning model and informal learning space of architecture students,which serves as the basis and guidance of the research.The third chapter and the fourth chapter are the core chapters of this paper.In the third chapter,the characteristics of various types of informal learning space are summarized through the data collection,investigation and analysis of architecture department libraries in major universities at home and abroad,and the existing problems are put forward through field observation and questionnaire survey.In the fourth chapter,the design principles and design strategies of informal learning space of architecture department libraries are systematically summarized.The fifth chapter takes the architecture building of Xi ’an University of Architecture and Technology as an example to transform and optimize the informal learning space in the architecture building,and provides practical demonstration and practical support for the design principles and strategies proposed above.In the end,this paper summarizes and looks forward to provide reference value and reference significance for the design of informal learning space of architecture department libraries in universities and the renovation of existing architecture department libraries.
