With the increasing emphasis on healthcare, the external landscape of general hospitals has received increasing attention in recent years. Most general hospitals in China are usually located in densely populated areas of the city, have a large radius and have gradually expanded from serving patients with disease-related conditions to serving the general population. The large number of people with disabilities,an ageing population and the fact that 70% of China’s population is sub-healthy,and patients are less able to adapt to their environment due to their behavioural limitations, require a more inclusive environment. However, today’s general hospitals are increasing in floor space and treatment space, neglecting the importance of the external hospital landscape environment and green space environment for people’s recovery, and as a result, environmental stress has led to a reduction in patients’ daily outdoor behavioural activities, which has a negative impact on both their physical and mental well-being.A single environmental resource does not meet the diverse needs of people with different individual abilities and does not give a supportive environment conducive to patient recovery. Therefore, the external landscape of general hospitals needs to be designed in a more diverse and humane way.To address the above issues, this paper firstly starts from the research background, determines the main direction and relevant concepts of the article, reviews and organizes the research on theoretical knowledge and practical design of the external environment design of general hospitals, and analyzes the matching theory of human and environment.Secondly, the basic characteristics of the users of the general hospital were analyzed in three aspects: physiological, psychological and behavioral characteristics, and a lot of field research was conducted in four tertiary-level general hospitals in Taiyuan and Xi’an to understand the current situation of the external environment of general hospitals. We took questionnaires and interviews to understand the problems of the outdoor landscape environment of general hospitals and analyze the reasons for the problems. Finally, based on the theory of matching people and environment, the paper proposes design principles and design strategies for the external landscape environment of general hospitals, analyzing four levels: site planning, spatial environment, natural landscape and general facilities. In terms of practical design, this paper takes Wucheng County Hospital in Dezhou City as an example, with the goal of designing a supportive external hospital environment with the ability to promote rehabilitation, assist treatment, and relieve stress, and conducts a detailed spatial environment design for the external environment of a general hospital. The paper starts from the perspective of the needs and abilities of the people who use it,and takes humanistic design as the starting point to optimise the landscape layout, spatial functions, overall environment and infrastructure of the general hospital, providing new ideas and strategies for the construction of the general hospital landscape, and providing theoretical and practical bases for the design of the external landscape environment of other general hospitals, which has practical significance for the construction of the external environment of general hospitals. |
