The opening of Beijing Shanghai high-speed railway in 2008 marks China’s entry into the "high-speed railway era",and high-speed railway has become one of the most important means of transportation for people to travel.Based on the space-time compression effect,high-speed rail has a profound impact on and changes the spatial development of regions and cities at the spatial,economic,social and other levels.As a strategic area for urban spatial development,the area around the high-speed railway station has ushered in an upsurge of development and construction,which has become an important research field in the era of high-speed rail.Taking Guangzhou south railway station and its surrounding areas,the high-speed railway hub with the largest passenger flow in China,as an example,on the basis of combing and summarizing domestic and foreign literature,combined with the basic facts of empirical cases,and taking "the role and role of stations in the spatial development of their surrounding areas" as the clue,this paper puts forward the concept of "the surrounding areas of Guangzhou South Railway Station" and tests it through empirical analysis.In terms of analysis content,starting with the interactive relationship between Guangzhou south railway station and the city,through the analysis of the location selection process,location characteristics,transportation functions and the role of city and region of Guangzhou south railway station,this paper combs the development background of Guangzhou south railway station.Then,starting from the four elements of land use,functional format,transportation system and spatial form,this paper deeply analyzes the process and characteristics of phased spatial development around Guangzhou south railway station,and summarizes its spatial development mechanism,mode and the role of the station.Then,it makes a comparative analysis and Rethinking with the spatial development of the surrounding areas of Shenzhen North railway station.Finally,expand the research from the micro level,and take the spatial main body(enterprise)of the regional leading business form as an example to further analyze the internal performance of the role of the station.Based on empirical research,on the one hand,this paper summarizes the overall spatial development model of the surrounding areas of Guangzhou south railway station,which is"discrete,multi plate and multi patchwork" of ’government + market’ multi-party cooperation under the traction of the station ";On the other hand,it is found that Guangzhou south railway station has played a significant traction role in the spatial development of its surrounding areas,and its scope of action is far beyond the planning scope of Guangzhou South Railway Station new town.The external performance is the structural relationship between the station and its surrounding areas,and the internal performance is the functional relevance between the station and its surrounding areas.The relevant conclusions not only provide reflection and suggestions for the spatial development of Guangzhou south railway station and the surrounding areas of other high-speed railway stations,but also enrich and improve the relevant research in the surrounding areas of high-speed railway stations.
