| The revolution of traffic mode always induces the change of urban spatial structure and development of regional economy. Based on the construction of high-speed rail, some cities along the high-speed rail launched the plan to build new town or economic development zone in China. In the national strategy of economic development, Guangzhou has been attributed as a main hub in the development strategy of "the Belt and Road". Therefore, it is necessary to optimize the original planning of Guangzhou south railway station which is the largest high-speed rail passenger traffic hub in South China. The aim of this paper is to propose an efficient planning of the urban function and spatial structure of Guangzhou south railway station to promote region development. The ring theory is introduced to perform the planning of the spatial structure of Guangzhou south railway station zone. In addition, the proposed planning of Guangzhou south railway station zone is analyzed by the method of suitability evaluation of urban construction land.First, the concepts of high-speed rail hub,urban space structure andthe relatedtheories of Tod,Ring Structure,Concentric circles have been reviewed. From the view of urban planning, this paper presents several key factors which affect the development of region spatial structure by the analysis of some similar cases in China or abroad.Second, based on the case analysis and urban function of high-speed rail station zone, the method of suitability evaluation of urban construction land is adapted to carry out the research of residential, commercial and business facilities and green space. The selected key factors, such as construction land suitability factor, classification of factors and its weight, are set to perform the research of ring structure plan of Guangzhou south railway station zone. This paper focused on the land function and its spatial structure and obtained the characteristics of spatial structure of selected cases by the use of ring theory.Finally, the present of Guangzhou south railway station zone are analyzed. the ring theory was applied in the planning of Guangzhou south railway station zone to optimize the spatial structure of Guangzhou south railway station zone. Meanwhile, the planning results of this paper were imported to GIS to evaluate the optimized planning of Guangzhou south railway station zone.The recommendations to improve the planning of Guangzhou south railway station zone for a better spatial structure and more efficient use of land are presented with respect to the results of this paper. |
