The construction activities of railway stations have always attracted the attention of domestic scholars and designers, because railway transportation has always been one of the most important land transportation modes in China, and has had a profound impact on the spatial, cultural, and economic development of domestic cities.Railway stations are important hubs and nodes in the rail transit system,as well as important nodes and interfaces connecting cities and regions through railways. They play a crucial role in social and economic activities.Since China entered the era of high-speed railways,a large number of old railway stations in various regions have been unable to meet the needs of the new era,and there is an urgent need for renovation and optimization. With the increasing call for urban renewal, updating old railway stations is of great significance for urban development and the improvement of urban renewal theory. The paper is divided into four chapters.Chapter 1,Introduction.Introduced the research background of the paper and analyzed the purpose and significance of the research.By reviewing and organizing literature, this article elaborates on the development process of urban renewal both domestically and internationally,as well as the research trends on urban railway hub renewal work in China.Clearly define the concepts and scope of relevant theories and research objects, select quantitative and qualitative research methods, and establish a research framework.Chapter 2,Research on the Current Situation of Old Railway Stations in China. We have classified the types of old railway stations in China, sorted out the current problems of different types of old railway stations through case studies and on-site research, and proposed corresponding solutions to the problems.Chapter 3,Construction of an Evaluation System for the Improvement of the Old Railway Station Domain.Based on the relevant research results and experience in the construction of the old railway station domain, the goal of improving the old railway station domain is set with the reference standards of building high-speed railway stations and updated railway stations.Starting from the six elements of buildings, space, facilities and equipment, industry, population, and environment, the impact mechanism of each element on the improvement of the old railway station area was studied. The evaluation system for improving the quality of old railway buildings and enhancing the vitality of the old railway station area was constructed to help clarify the primary and secondary relationships between various issues.Chapter 4: Strategies for the renovation of old railway stations in China guided by the concept of urban renewal.Elaborated on the concepts related to urban renewal and used them as the theoretical basis for proposing strategies.By selecting various indicators based on the weight of the previous chapter, four main influencing factors are identified: building itself, station space, population, and industry. And based on the remaining indicators, targeted update design strategies were proposed from four aspects: building itself, station space, population environment, and industrial economy. This article is guided by the concept of urban renewal and studies the problems of old railway stations in domestic railway transportation hubs.Through literature review and on-site investigation,an evaluation index system for improving the station area of old railway stations in China has been constructed, which has certain guiding significance for practical engineering projects.Based on the weight of indicators,a strategy for the renovation and renovation of old urban railway stations is proposed, providing ideas for the research on the renovation of old railway stations in China.
