The relation between the railway station and areas around station has been an old and fresh research themes both in domestic and abroad,since the railway functions as one of the most important transporting ways,which always affects and reshapes the territory,space,culture,and ecomomy deeply.With the era of high-speed railway coming,China has led the development of high-speed railway around world,underpining the new structure for chinese ecomomic and social development.Railway stations,which are crucial node and area for linkage between city and region through the railway,work as the important transbay and node for railway transporting system.Railway station affects social and ecomomic activities,which are distinct in the area around station.That’s the reason why so much attention had been placed on the topic of relations between railway station and areas around station.The theory and practice for the construction of high-speed railway station in China during the new time reflects the strategic significance of this statement.With deep reflections on this issue,this paper redefines and constructs two original conceptions about station areas(Station Area and Station Related Area)on the basis of current domestic and foreign literatures.Also the analytical structure for empirical study of the spacial evolution and nomative research of development in the area of station have been put forward,which leads to the discussion about the case of “Three Station Areas”in Guangzhou.This dissertation is consisted of six chapters.Chapter one is exordium,which introduces the main purpose and significance of the study,major contents,the research methods and conceptions.Chapter two introduces “three stations”of Guangzhou with the interactions between railway and city.This chapter analyzes the process of location for the railway station as a result of coordination and game-playing betwwen city and railway.Chapter three analyzes the mechanism for the spacial evolution in Guangzhou Station Related Area.By defining space scope for Guangzhou Station Related Area,this chapter analyzes evolution of land use,characters of functional industries and evolution of space morphology about the Guangzhou Station Related Area,which also indicates the inherent mechanism for space evolution.Chapter four employs the same method used in chapter three,which introduces space evolution and inherent mechanism about Guangzhou East Station Related Area.This chapter analyzes,on the basis of defining scope about Guangzhou East Station Related Area,the evolution of land use,main characters of functional industries and evolution of space morphology,which indicating the inherent mechanism for space evolution.Chapter five introduces the current space development for Guangzhou South Station New City and developing suggestiones,which anticipates the prospects for this area on the basis of domestic and foreign cases of high-speed railway stations and the empirical study about the former two Station Related Areas in Guangzhou,with the analysis of opportunities and challenges for the development in Guangzhou South Station New City.Chapter six dissucses the ideal and reality of the reflections about the developmemt patterns for Station Areas.The discussion starts with analysis about classical theoretical model of Station Ares and the Guangzhou three Station Areas cases,and then continues to talk about the causes for similarity and differences of space,functions,and motivating mechanism for the station areas under the backgrounds of theory and practice,which completes the traceability and return of the theoretical statement about the development pattern for Station Areas.The dissertation present an analytical framework on the basis of Three Station Areas cases in Guangzhou and the empirical and normative research,for discussing the individuality and generality of Station Areas,with the comparative analysis from the domestic and foreign cases and concerned classical theoretical model.All of this research indicates and directs the urban renewal of Station Areas and the practices of its spatial development,with the provement for the usability of Station Related Area.At the same time,this research leads us to further reflections about the relations between city and railway stations. |
