Research On Spatial Characteristics Evaluation And Promotion Strategy Of Guzhen County Based On Spatial Identity

Urban spatial characteristics serve as the very essence of a city’s image and personality.When urban spaces possess distinctiveness,they not only bolster the city’s competitiveness but also foster local culture and strengthen residents’ sense of identity.This,in turn,becomes a vital driving force for sustainable urban development.Unfortunately,during the rapid growth of cities,a prevalent occurrence is the homogenization and loss of unique urban characteristics.Many urban spaces become detached from their regional culture,making it challenging for them to gain widespread recognition among the public and impeding the long-term progress of cities.In light of this situation,effectively assessing urban spatial characteristics,unearthing urban characteristic resources,and formulating targeted strategies for their cultivation and enhancement based on human values have become critical issues in urban development.Drawing upon the theory of spatial identity,this study focuses on Guzhen County in Anhui Province as its research subject to explore evaluation and improvement methods for urban spatial characteristics with people at the core.By analyzing the theories of spatial identity and relevant researches on urban spatial characteristics,the relationship between spatial identity and the cultivation of urban spatial characteristics is elucidated.The dimensions of spatial identity are incorporated into the evaluation and promotion framework of urban spatial characteristics,resulting in the creation of a comprehensive path encompassing "combing characteristic resources-evaluating spatial characteristics-showcasing urban characteristics." Taking into account the specific circumstances of Guzhen County,a combination of analytical methods such as the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP),the Delphi method,GIS spatial analysis,questionnaire surveys,and interviews is employed to construct an evaluation system for Guzhen County’s spatial characteristics.Moreover,the study undertakes the task of identifying and evaluating the characteristic resources of Guzhen County,while also addressing the existing issues.Based on the evaluation results,pertinent strategies are proposed to organize the spatial characteristic layout,optimize the styles,and enhance the quality of Guzhen County’s urban center.These measures aim to promote the expression and refinement of Guzhen County’s spatial characteristics.This paper introduces the theory of spatial identity into the exploration of urban spatial characteristics.Adopting a public perspective,it employs the identification of specific spaces by different groups as the benchmark for measuring urban spatial characteristics.Additionally,it analyzes the public’s subjective experiences,emotional attitudes,and value-based feedback regarding urban spatial characteristics from three dimensions:vision,function,and implication.By doing so,it endeavors to offer novel insights and a valuable reference for the relevant studies of urban spatial characteristics with a focus on human values.
