In the Industry 4.0 period, where information technology is driving industrial reform, countries are actively seeking breakthroughs in digital technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence in order to win the dominant role in the reorganisation of the industrial chain.Against this backdrop,it has become a trend for the automotive industry to transform from the traditional manufacturing model to an information-based and intelligent production model. However, the transformation cannot be achieved overnight and requires a comprehensive technological innovation of the overall management and operation mode and production methods of the enterprise.Automotive companies need to actively integrate digital technology to explore new business processes and explore new value creation models, while maintaining their existing market advantages. This paper takes SAIC Group as a case study to analyse the relationship between its digital transformation and corporate performance.Firstly, the motivation, process and path of SAIC’s digital transformation are reviewed, and the current status of SAIC’s transformation is clarified.Secondly,we analyse the impact of SAIC’s digital transformation paths on corporate performance, and understand how different transformation paths have contributed to the improvement of corporate performance in the process of implementation.Thirdly,we analyse the changes in SAIC’s financial and non-financial performance during the digital transformation period compared to the industry average. The study found that,in terms of financial performance,SAIC’s digital transformation was able to mitigate the decline in profitability due to the industry downturn and had a significant positive impact on solvency, but there was no significant change in operating and growth capacity before and after the transformation. In terms of non-financial performance: SAIC’s digital transformation led to the optimisation of the company’s staff structure, and the market share and brand influence steadily increased during the transformation period. This paper then uses a DEA model to analyse SAIC’s overall performance. The DEA model shows that SAIC’s investment in digital transformation has achieved significant results, and each transformation path has a positive effect on corporate performance. Finally, based on the analysis of SAIC’s digital transformation and corporate performance, this paper puts forward a few targeted suggestions that will hopefully help SAIC further improve its corporate performance in the process of digital transformation, and draw on SAIC’s digital transformation experience to provide reference for other similar companies.
