The Nexus Of Johannesburg-Cape Town With High Speed Railway And Economic Growth

This study is a critical analysis of the nexus of the cities of Johannesburg en-route Cape Town in South Africa through the usage of high speed railway(HSR)lines to enhance and foster economic growth and development.The inefficient and unreliability of the mode of transport between those key cities has prompted this study.It has become evident that transportation,particularly rail,can play a vital role in ensuring that the economy of a region likes South Africa.It is revitalized and reinvigorated to the benefit of the citizens and in the process,address the triple challenges-being unemployment,poverty and inequality-that plaque the economy and subsequent gross domestic product(GDP)of the country.Those high speed railway lines between the cities in question could have the potential and desired effect to create,through the transportation of food products and other amenities,service other adjacent areas in the country during an envisaged certain period of time.The likelihood,in this instance,is that the economic spin-offs could be massive.The introduction of high-speed railway shows that it not the only integrated modes of traffic when competing with other modes of transportation but is also able to play a pivotal role in stimulus economic growth of the cities along the line and the evolution of regional spatial structure.Taking Johannesburg-Durban high-speed railway case study as measure of alignment,however,this paper construct data in nexus of Johannesburg-Cape Town with high-speed railway and economic growth in easing the bad-lock of traffic by producing an alternative rail rapid transit system and opening on economic development.The nexus of two South Africa’s major cities with high-speed railway will become a crucial axis for the country’s transportation and economic development along the cities with high-speed railway,as it has the potential advancement of transportation in the country at large by nexus these two major cities.Subsequent to the above,it is prudent and commonsensical that the nexus between those major cities,through the usage of high speed railway lines be looked into through conducting a whole scale research.In this research,the cities of Johannesburg and Cape Town,occupy center stage because of their assumed strategic locations and areas where the economic activities in the country are evident.
