High-quality transportation mode is an important support to maintain sustainable economic development and social ecosystem stability.As a new and convenient mode of transportation,high-speed railway has attracted great attention and support from the state due to its economic characteristics such as high efficiency and environmental protection,resulting in a large number of studies on the relationship between high-speed railway and economic development.Shandong Province is one of the most populous and economic provinces in China.By 2018,Shandong Province has operated four high-speed railways.There are nine high-speed railway stations in Shandong Province,including two sub-provincial cities and seven prefecture-level cities,namely Jinan,Qingdao,Zibo,Zaozhuang,Yantai,Weifang,Taian,Weihai and Dezhou.Although there are many studies on the economic growth of the cities along and around the high-speed railway,there are few studies on the cities along the high-speed railway in Shandong province.Therefore,this paper chooses the economic development of all the cities along the high-speed railway in Shandong Province as the research object to analyze the impact of the high-speed railway on the regional economic growth of Shandong province.On the basis of reading and sorting out the literature on the economic impact of high-speed rail,this paper summarizes and analyses the operation status of high-speed rail in China and Shandong Province,and finds that the operation mileage of high-speed rail in China is the first in the world,while Shandong Province ranks the seventh in the whole country.In addition,from the economic level,this paper expounds the current situation of economic output value,three major industrial structures,permanent population and employment population in Shandong Province from 2005 to 2017.Combining the relevant theories of New Economic Geography and the current situation of Shandong Province’s economy,society and transportation network,from the perspective of the comparative advantages of high-speed railway itself and the improvement of regional accessibility,it theoretically analyses theeconomic growth,industrial structure optimization and achievements of high-speed railway.The paper empirically analyses panel data of 2 sub-provincial cities and 15prefecture-level cities in Shandong Province from 1999 to 2017 from two aspects of economic output value and employment number by using fixed effect model.The final conclusion is that the impact of high-speed railway on economic output value growth and employment population growth in Shandong Province is positive and significant.The results are in line with theoretical expectations,and are in line with Shandong Province’s expectations.The present situation of development in Eastern Province is the same.In addition,during the empirical analysis of this paper,we found that there are some problems hindering the development of Shandong Province,such as the low quality of industrial structure and the imperfect level of urbanization.At the end of this paper,we suggest that Shandong Province improve the layout of high-speed railway network,increase the export and import corridors through high-speed railway,increase the proportion of high-quality and high-speed railway,and make full use of the high-speed rail effect to give full play to its economic location Quick steps for the conversion of old and new kinetic energy.While continuously promoting the construction of high-speed railway,we should also strengthen the construction of Shandong’s own economic and social level,improve the construction of basic service facilities in Shandong Province,especially along the high-speed railway.The relationship between the operation of high-speed railway and economic growth is mutually reinforcing.Only when the level of urban construction is capable of coping with the enterprise agglomeration and population influx brought about by high-speed railway,can high-speed railway really play its role.Its driving effect on the economy,therefore,to improve the economic development level of the cities along the line,can reduce the siphon effect of factors of production caused by high-speed rail on small and medium-sized cities.urbanization level. |
