With the increasing aging of the population and the country’s strong support for education for the elderly,universities for the aged,as an important carrier to achieve education for the elderly,are flourishing in China.However,due to the rapid development of social economy and the changing structure and needs of the elderly in China,the existing universities for the aged are difficult to meet the diversified learning needs of the elderly.On the other hand,there is still a lack of systematic theoretical guidance in the design and construction of universities for the aged in China,which leads to the mismatch between functions and needs in the construction of some universities for the aged Therefore,it is necessary to conduct a systematic study on the architecture of the university for the aged.Based on the above background,the author selected provincial,municipal and districtlevel universities for the aged with a certain scale and high level of education in southern China as research samples to conduct field research and interviews.From the perspective of post-use evaluation of the built environment,this paper combines qualitative and quantitative analysis of the university buildings for the aged,and deeply explores the feelings and needs of the aged students.The paper is divided into four parts and five chapters.Chapter One and Chapter Two is the first part,which elaborates the research background of this paper,defines relevant concepts,summarizes the research status at home and abroad,and clarifies the research content and framework of this paper.Also,this part conducts a pilot study on the evaluation object and the evaluation subject,and establishes a systematic evaluation system.The second part,which is Chapter Third,conducts satisfaction evaluation.Taking aged students and teachers as the control variable analysis,it can be found that their satisfaction evaluations are mostly “general” or “good”.Different groups of satisfaction evaluation results have certain difference,and the overall evaluation and most factors are significantly positive correlation.Based on the analysis of different universities for the aged as control variables,it can be found that there are certain problems in the functional space factors,age-suitability factors,sensory factors,and facilities of university buildings for the aged.But in terms of management factors,the overall satisfaction evaluation result is higher.According to the rank analysis of the importance of factors,functional space factors ranks first,followed by aging factors,sensory factors,management and maintenance,facilities and equipment factors.The third part,which is Chapter Four,evaluates the subjective tendency of the teaching space of universities for the elderly,and explores the users’ tendency to choose the teaching space of universities for the elderly from four aspects: space attitude,current situation and habits,aesthetic preference,and facilities and equipment.The fourth part,which is Chapter Five,is the core chapter of this paper.Through the above research and analysis,summary and demonstration process,the architectural design mode of the university for the elderly is proposed,and the optimization design strategy for the overall planning of the building,interior space and outdoor activity site is put forward.It is expected to perfect the architectural design theory of the university for the aged and promote its high-quality development.
