Since the 21st century, the problem of aging population in China has become increasingly prominent. With the rapid development of the pension industry in China, social pension institutions are gradually developing from the pursuit of the number of institutional beds to the pursuit of space quality. The architectural design has also changed from imitating the space form of hospitals and hotels in the early stage to the space suitable for the diversified life of the elderly, and the demand for architectural space has become more diversified. At present, care facilities for the elderly are mainly designed based on norms and existing experience, lacking quantitative and scientific analysis of existing problems, and unable to reflect the real needs of the elderly changing with the times. The use of post evaluation as a scientific quantitative analysis method in architectural design can effectively solve the problem of designing buildings only by experience and perceptual knowledge. From the perspective of actual users, the author introduces the use evaluation theory into the design of elderly care buildings, evaluates the built building space after use, makes quantitative analysis of the problems, and forms a feedback mechanism, hoping to improve the rationality of elderly care facilities and environmental quality in China.First of all, this paper combs the development history of care facilities for the elderly in China, the physiological and psychological characteristics of the elderly and the demand for pension services, and analyzes the aging design characteristics of typical care facilities for the elderly in the United States and Japan.Secondly, the author investigates several representative living spaces of elderly care facilities, analyzes the main space characteristics, summarizes the problems in the design, and constructs the preliminary elements of the evaluation. Then, the evaluation system of post use evaluation is constructed by AHP,and the weight elements of living space of elderly care facilities are sorted; And three of the typical living space after the use of the evaluation of empirical investigation, using questionnaires, interviews, behavior observation and other research methods, collect users’ subjective satisfaction and use tendency evaluation, analyze the use of each space. Finally, according to the results of quantitative data, this paper puts forward the living space design strategy of elderly care facilities from four aspects of the overall layout, living space, indoor public space and traffic space. Finally, through the construction practice of Yihe elderly care center in Wushen Banner, the practical application of the above design strategies is tested.Hope that through this study,to a certain extent,to supplement and improve the design theory system of elderly care facilities,to provide reference for the fine development of elderly care facilities in China, and create a more suitable space environment for the elderly.
