As the Chinese government has proposed the goal of accelerating the construction of an innovation-oriented country, innovation has gradually attracted the attention of all circles in China. At the same time,in today’s complex and changeable economic situation, the intensity of competition among enterprises is increasingly intensified, innovation has become a key factor to establish competitive advantages, enterprises are more than ever attached to their own innovation. However,in the past "closed innovation" mode, enterprises need to bear a series of costs such as production, manufacturing and marketing alone. If innovation fails, enterprises may suffer huge losses. Therefore, the mode of enterprise innovation urgently needs to change from the original closed innovation to open innovation.Open innovation refers to a series of innovative activities in which an enterprise breaks organizational boundaries, introduces external resources and combines them with internal resources, absorbs and transforms them on this basis, and forms new research results so as to achieve sustainable development of the enterprise. At present, the theory of open innovation has aroused extensive research in the academic circle. The relevant research results show that open innovation will inevitably affect the performance of enterprises, and the results will be reflected in the business benefit of enterprises. Therefore, this issue has become an important content of scholars’ research. However, from the existing research results, most scholars use empirical research to analyze the relationship between open innovation and enterprise performance, and few scholars use cases to study the relationship between open innovation and enterprise performance and the specific path of open innovation affecting performance. Therefore, this paper uses case study method to study the impact of open innovation on firm performance.Geely Auto Group is a typical enterprise of open innovation. It has been fully implementing open innovation since 2010 and has accumulated certain experience from the initial exploratory stage to the current mature stage. Therefore, taking Geely Auto Group as an example, this paper adopts case study method and combines qualitative and quantitative analysis methods to study the path and effect of Geely Auto’s open innovation on enterprise performance.Firstly, this paper discusses relevant theoretical basis and conducts appropriate literature research, analyzes the path and specific impact of open innovation on enterprise performance and how to evaluate its impact effect from a theoretical perspective, and forms a complete theoretical analysis framework. Then, this paper analyzes the basic situation of Geely Auto and the motivation and process of its open innovation, divides its open innovation process into three stages, briefly summarizes the development of each stage, and analyzes the characteristics reflected in Geely Auto’s open innovation. On this basis, this paper explores in depth the paths of Geely Auto open innovation and how each path specifically affects corporate performance. Finally, this paper studies the impact of Geely Auto’s open innovation on its performance from multiple dimensions. The study found that in the process of open innovation,Geely Automobile route choice mainly include mergers and acquisitions introduction, research and development, the strategic alliance cooperation, the innovation pattern also affect the Geely Automobile innovation ability, market share, customer satisfaction, sustainable profitability, operation and management ability, value creation ability, impact on various aspects of business performance,On the whole, the enterprise performance of Geely Auto has been improved to a certain extent, and the improvement effect gradually appears with the deepening of open innovation.
