In recent years,Chinese programmers have been increasingly affected by chronic diseases, which present significant health challenges and have garnered attention from the medical community.Chronic diseases closely associated with dietary nutrition, such as diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, have emerged as major risk factors for their health.Today, research on dietary intake for special groups, such as children, the elderly, and pregnant women, has advanced, but there is limited research on the dietary structure of young people, particularly those in the information technology(IT)industry with intensive overtime hours, and there is no in-depth research on this population.Good dietary and behavioral habits are essential to maintaining the physical health of individuals.Adopting a balanced diet and making appropriate food choices not only meets daily nutritional requirements but also provides the necessary nutrients to support physical and mental well-being.In this study,we examine the dietary behavior habits and health status of young adults in the S district aged 21 to 44 who work in the IT sector through questionnaire surveys, interviews, and Logistic regression analysis method. The study aims to explore the current status of dietary habits, behavioral patterns, and health conditions of IT professionals and identify the influencing factors.Furthermore, the study analyzes the relationship between dietary and behavioral habits and the health status of this population, providing data for the development of a dietary and nutrition information system suitable for young IT professionals. The main findings are as follows:1.Dietary habits and influencing factors:The body mass index,as a significant factor, affects dietary habits.Individuals with a higher body mass index have a greater demand for a variety of breakfast foods,animal-based foods, meat, oils, animal organs, cooking oil, salt, and sugary drinks. The second factor is gender.Women prefer to consume more soy products, while men tend to eat more animal-based foods. Finally, young IT professionals have a severe deficiency in their daily intake of fruits and vegetables.2.Behavioral habits and influencing factors:Gender differences in dietary and lifestyle habits have an impact on overall health.Among males,63.9% smoke,76.1% drink alcohol, and 80.88% participate in social gatherings.Age does not have a significant influence on smoking, drinking, and social behavior among IT professionals. In terms of work pressure,76.4% of IT professionals report experiencing stress.3.Health statusGender plays a significant role in determining one’s health status.A majority of men have poor health, whereas 65.68% of women have average health. In most cases, the younger the age group, the better the health status.Besides, individuals with a body mass index below 24 tend to have a higher proportion of good or average physical condition. However,as the body mass index increases, the physical condition deteriorates. The body mass index also has a significant impact on blood sugar, blood lipids, and blood pressure(P<0.05).Additionally,69.2% of respondents reported having skin problems, while 8.1% has high cholesterol disease,5.2% has fatty liver disease,and5.0% has hemorrhoids.4.The relationship among eating habits, behavior habits, and health statusAfter the Logistic regression analysis method,it has been found that there is a significant positive relationship between the intake of eggs, dairy products, vegetables, fruits, and water consumption, and health status.Conversely, the use of salt and cooking oil has a significant negative impact on the physical health of IT professionals.Furthermore, the negative ramifications of body mass index, smoking, drinking, work intensity, and work pressure are substantial and far-reaching.It has been observed that the higher the body mass index, the greater the likelihood of suffering from various diseases, which have adverse effects on physical health indicators. In conclusion, the dietary and behavioral habits of young IT professionals require improvement, and so does their overall health status. There is a positive correlation between dietary and behavioral habits and health status. To address poor dietary nutrition,it is essential to develop an application program tailored to their dietary nutrition needs by improving their dietary structure, enhancing knowledge related to dietary nutrition, addressing poor dietary habits, and promoting their physical health. |
