Humans and the ecological environment are interdependent and mutually restrictive in the human-land system. The ecological environment provides humans with necessary material resources for production and life while human activities, which modify nature,in turn affect the healthy development of the natural environment. The core of research on human-land relationships is to reveal the mutual interaction and feedback effects between humans and nature. In recent years, the rapid development of human society has led to the imbalance of regional relationships between humans and land. This has brought enormous challenges to the development of human society, such as environmental pollution, resource shortage, and disease spread. Therefore, quantitatively evaluating the urban ecological environment and human activity level, studying the characteristics of the evolution of human-environmental relationships are of great significance for promoting regional coordinated sustainable development. This study focused on Ganzhou City and used Landsat satellite imagery as the basic data source.Quantitative analysis of the ecological environment and human activity levels in Ganzhou City from 2000 to 2020 was conducted, combining land use, nighttime light, population density, road, and water network data. The temporal and spatial change rules between ecological environment quality and human activity levels were revealed through trend analysis. The coupling coordination degree model was used to analyze the coupling coordination characteristics between the ecological environment and human activities. The interaction relationship between them was studied using regression analysis and bivariate spatial autocorrelation models. The main results are as follows:(1)Using remote sensing ecological index(RSEI)model based on GEE,the ecological environment quality of Ganzhou City from 2000 to 2020 was evaluated. The results showed that the overall trend of RSEI value in Ganzhou City during the research period was upward, with a spatial pattern of "central poor, peripheral good" in terms of ecological environment quality. The overall ecological environment quality was good, with regions that had excellent and good ecological environment quality accounting for 70% to 80% of the total area, and regions with poor and very poor ecological environment quality accounting for less than 10%of the total area, showing a decreasing trend over time.Theil-Sen trend analysis and MannKendall significance test results showed that 82.90% of the regions had improved ecological environment while the area of degraded ecological environment accounted for 13.56%,with3.54% of regions showing no significant trend. The results of the trend analysis were combined with Hurst exponent analysis, which indicated that 81.47% of the regions would continue to improve their ecological environment,13.27% of the regions would continue to deteriorate,1.74% of the regions showed weak continuity, and 3.52% of the regions would remain stable in the future.(2)The human activity level in Ganzhou City was evaluated by constructing a human footprint index, and the results were fitted and analyzed with global human footprint data. The results showed that the human activity level in Ganzhou City from 2000 to 2020 was generally low, with high-intensity human activities mainly concentrated in some areas of Zhanggong District and Nankang District.Meanwhile,low-intensity human activities were distributed mainly in the mountainous and hilly areas in the northern and southern parts of Ganzhou City.Trend analysis showed that human activities were expanding outward in the city center area, while human activity level in suburban and hilly areas was decreasing, with human activity shown to be more concentrated. The analysis of Coupled Response Relationship between Ecological Environment Quality and Human Activity Intensity.Combining remote sensing ecological index and human activity intensity data, introducing the coupling coordination degree model, the Coupling Coordination Degree of Ganzhou City is analyzed. The results show that in the study period, most counties and cities in Ganzhou City were mainly in the stage of benign coupling and high-level coupling. The Coupling Coordination Degree index for 5 years were 0.5960,0.5938,0.6058,0.6081 and0.6075,which have risen from the stage of barely coordinated development to the primary coordinated development stage, indicating that the coordinated development status of ecological environment and human activities in Ganzhou City is improving. The results of bivariate spatial autocorrelation analysis and linear regression analysis show that there is a certain negative correlation between human activities and ecological environment, and this negative correlation is gradually increasing.
