Since the 21st century, mankind has been faced with a variety of problems such as lack of resources and energy, worsening pollution and global warming. With the intensification of global climate change, the increase of greenhouse gas emissions has become a major environmental problem posing a serious threat to human survival. The larger Chinese animal husbandry output, reducing the carbon emission of animal husbandry,is not only a responsible country’s powerful bear, but also an inevitable requirement for realizing the high quality development of animal husbandry. Therefore, this paper will conduct a systematic study on the carbon emission of animal husbandry in Shandong Province, hoping to provide feasible reference basis for accelerating the low-carbon production of animal husbandry.Firstly, based on the systematic review of relevant literature, this paper scientifically constructed a calculation model of carbon emissions from animal husbandry and completed the effective calculation of carbon emissions from animal husbandry in Shandong province. At the same time, based on the total amount, intensity and structure of carbon emissions, this paper deeply analyzed its temporal evolution rule and spatial differentiation characteristics.Secondly, based on the existing measurement results,Kaya identity and LMDI model were used to decompose the carbon emission factors of animal husbandry in Shandong Province from the perspectives of economy, efficiency, structure and population, and the factors affecting the carbon emission of animal husbandry in Shandong Province were found. The main conclusions are as follows:(1)The time series of carbon emissions from animal husbandry in Shandong Province has significant changes. The carbon emission of animal husbandry in Shandong Province showed a decreasing sign on the whole. The overall carbon emission intensity decreased year by year, but the reduction range was different in different periods. In terms of carbon emission structure, the total emissions caused by pigs and poultry were on the increase trend year by year, while the total carbon emissions of cattle, sheep and rabbits were on the decrease trend year by year.(2)The spatial distribution of carbon emissions from animal husbandry in Shandong Province was significantly different. The total carbon emission and carbon emission intensity of animal husbandry in 16 cities showed obvious spatial differences.Based on the difference of carbon emission proportion, the 16 prefectures and cities can be divided into four types, namely, the leading type of cattle breeding, the leading type of sheep breeding, the leading type of pig breeding and the leading type of poultry breeding.(3)Efficiency factors, structural factors, population factors and economic factors had different degrees of positive and negative impacts on carbon emissions from animal husbandry in Shandong Province.Efficiency factors, structural factors and population factors inhibit carbon emissions from animal husbandry in Shandong Province and other cities, while economic factors are the main driving factors for the increase of carbon emissions from animal husbandry in Shandong Province and other cities.Based on the above main research conclusions, the following countermeasures and suggestions are put forward: accelerate the construction of animal husbandry industry system to achieve large-scale development;Accelerate scientific and technological progress of animal husbandry and promote low-carbon technology innovation;Raise the low carbon level of animal husbandry, improve the policy system;Scientific treatment of livestock manure, reasonable development of animal husbandry biogas resources.
