Xinjiang is China’s largest cotton production area, cotton industry in Xinjiang occupies a very important position. At present,Xinjiang cotton agricultural film coverage rate is close to 100%,thanks to the role of agricultural film heat preservation, soil moisture conservation, increase,Xinjiang cotton per mu yield has been effectively improved, but because of the use of agricultural film, low recovery rate, making a large number of residual film in the soil, not only caused serious white pollution of cotton fields in Xinjiang,It also restricts the sustainable development of Xinjiang cotton industry. The cotton output in southern Xinjiang accounts for more than 80% of the total cotton output in Xinjiang.Due to perennial mulching cultivation,"heavy use, light recycling",high cost and difficulty of recycling,a large amount of residual agricultural film poses a serious threat to the ecology of southern Xinjiang, and the most direct and effective way to control the pollution of residual film is recycling by farmers. Therefore,it is particularly important to promote cotton farmers in southern Xinjiang to participate in residual film recycling.Cognition determines farmers’ preferences and further influences their decisions and behaviors.Based on the above analysis, this study takes cotton farmers in southern Xinjiang as the research object.Based on the microscopic survey data of cotton farmers in southern Xinjiang, this study uses the binary Logistic regression model to study the influencing factors of cotton farmers’ participation in residual film recycling from the aspects of individual characteristics of cotton farmers, family management characteristics and benefit cognition of residual film recycling, etc. The following conclusions are drawn:First, the individual characteristics of cotton farmers significantly affect the residual film recycling behavior of cotton farmers. To be specific:Cotton farmers’ age, education level, health level and political status all significantly affect their participation in residual film recycling. The older the cotton farmers are,the higher the education level and the better the health level, the more likely the cotton farmers are to participate in residual film recycling.Meanwhile, the party membership will also significantly improve the residual film recycling behavior of cotton farmers. In comparison, the waste film recycling behavior of cotton farmers with Communist Party membership was 3.499 times that of cotton farmers with ordinary status.Second, the family management characteristics of cotton farmers significantly affect the recycling behavior of cotton farmers’ residual film.To be specific:The annual household income, planting area, whether to join the cooperative, and whether to be a demonstration household can significantly affect the recycling of cotton residue film. The higher the annual household income of cotton farmers and the larger the planting scale, the more likely the cotton farmers are to participate in the recycling of cotton residue film.Meanwhile, joining the cooperative and becoming a demonstration household can also promote the recycling of cotton residue film. The residue recycling probability of cotton farmers who became model households and joined cooperatives increased by 1.154 and 2.555 times respectively.Thirdly, the benefit cognition of film residue recycling can significantly affect the behavior of cotton farmers. To be specific, the cognition of economic benefit, social benefit and ecological benefit can all affect the residual film recycling behavior of cotton farmers. The higher the cognition of economic, social and ecological benefit of cotton farmers, the stronger the participation in the residual film recycling behavior of cotton farmers, and the impact of economic benefit cognition of cotton farmers on the residual film recycling behavior is greater than that of social benefit cognition and ecological benefit cognition.According to the above results, some suggestions are put forward to improve the enthusiasm of cotton farmers to participate in the residual film recycling.First, innovate the way of publicity and improve the cognition level of cotton farmers on the recycling behavior.Second, grasp the grassroots education, give play to the role of grassroots executive;Third, strictly regulate the cotton field agricultural film use standards;Fourth, improve the residual film recycling system, improve the participation enthusiasm of cotton farmers;Fifth, accelerate the mechanization and application of residual film recycling;Sixth, optimize the residual film recycling policies.
