| Since the “the Belt and Road” initiative was put forward in 2013,the economic cooperation of countries along the “the Belt and Road” has continued to deepen, the regional cooperation mechanism has continued to improve, and the overall liberalization of trade in goods has reached 90% by April 2022.As a “big country” in sports goods manufacturing and export,China’s total exports of sports goods account for more than 30% of the world’s total sports goods accounts. The main export markets of China’s sporting goods have been concentrated in the United States,Canada and other developed countries in Europe and the United States, and this market structure has led to China’s sporting goods vulnerable to the changing international situation, the Federal Reserve’s interest rate increase, and so on.At the same time, since the “the Belt and Road” initiative was put forward, the growth rate of import of sports goods from countries along the line to China has increased year by year.By 2019,the export growth rate was as high as 20.15%.Therefore,strengthening trade ties with countries and regions along the “the Belt and Road” is particularly important for optimizing China’s sports goods export market structure.Based on this, the paper firstly combs the domestic and foreign literature, and defines the concept of the “the Belt and Road” initiative and sporting goods.Using the relevant trade theories for reference, this paper combs the impact of the “the Belt and Road” initiative on trade, trade influencing factors and the development of sports industry under the “the Belt and Road” initiative, laying a theoretical foundation for this study.Secondly, through sorting out the trade data of UN Comtrade, this paper analyzes the development of China’s sports goods export trade in terms of overall scale, product structure and market structure. The research find that the foreign trade volume of China’s sporting goods increased year by year from 2009 to 2020,and the growth rate of China’s trade volume with countries along the “the Belt and Road” was generally higher than that of China’s total trade volume with the world; From the regional perspective,China’s trade scale with six regional markets has expanded,of which ASEAN is the most active trade market along the “the Belt and Road”;From the perspective of product structure, the growth rate of sports equipment products is the largest, while the proportion of sports clothing and footwear is shrinking year by year. The biggest competitive advantage of sports goods in China at this stage is equipment products. Then, based on the panel data of China’s exports of sports goods to 68 countries and regions in “the Belt and Road” from 2009 to 2020,this paper constructs the dummy variable of “whether to sign the ‘the Belt and Road’initiative cooperation document with China”,and uses the Progressive Difference-In-Difference Model to assess the policy impact of the “the Belt and Road” initiative on China’s sports goods exports. The results show that the “the Belt and Road” initiative has a significant positive impact on the overall export growth of China’s sports goods.Further analysis of product heterogeneity shows that the “the Belt and Road” initiative has significantly promoted the export growth of China’s sports equipment products, but has not yet played a significant role in the export of clothing and footwear sports products. In addition,in the control variables,GDP per capita of the importing country, the total labor force, the degree of trade openness, the quality of logistics infrastructure and whether to join the WTO also significantly promote the export growth of China’s sports goods, while the geographical distance of trade hinder the export of sports goods. Finally, the conclusions of the previous study are summarized, and the following policy recommendations are put forward: continue to promote the “the Belt and Road” and deepen regional economic cooperation;Implement differentiation strategy and develop market according to local conditions;Stabilize growth and supplement weaknesses, and optimize the structure of export products. |
