Due to the regionalization,high-frequency and complexity of pollution phenomena,China is facing a severe environmental situation in the process of implementing sustainable development strategies. The development trend of scale and intensification in various industries may become a new path and strategy for optimizing environmental quality, especially for the logistics industry facing enormous emission reduction pressure. The logistics development and the improvement of logistics specialization level continue to drive the strengthening of logistics spatial network connectivity effect, which in turn provides the possibility for cross regional transfer of environmental pollution.Based on this,it is urgent to systematically measure the internal linkage mechanism of the impact of different development models of logistics on ecological environment quality,in order to provide effective ideas and feasible suggestions for strengthening the radiation and driving force of the logistics industry, achieving green social governance and implementing sustainable development strategies.Focusing on the logistics development model and environment quality, reviewing current academic achievements and relevant policy documents, summarizing the current research status and shortcomings, building a theoretical framework based on new economic geography theory, external economic theory, competitive advantage theory,Porter hypothesis, etc.,constructing mathematical models and designing measurement indicators from different development dimensions of the logistics and different perspectives of environmental quality.Based on the two-dimensional panel data and spatial relationship data, combined with the classic methods of advanced econometrics and the statistical methods of interdisciplinary field integration research, the nonlinear impact of the overall development of logistics, the logistics spatial agglomeration and the accessibility of logistics network on the environment quality was statistically studied. On this basis, the rationality of mediating pathway and some regulatory mechanisms will be tested.Furthermore, heterogeneity analysis will be conducted considering the differences in different types of pollutants,China’s legal environment background and regional divisions. The main conclusions obtained from the study are:Firstly, the overall development level of the logistics exhibits an inverted U-shaped variation pattern on the quality of the ecological environment. When the logistics industry is in a low-level development stage, frequent transportation activities exacerbate environmental pollution, and optimizing the legal environment can weaken the negative effect of logistics industry development on environmental pollution. When the logistics is in an advanced stage of development, industrial structure optimization alleviates environmental pollution.Secondly, the environmental effects of the overall development of the logistics industry are differentiated due to different types of pollutants and imbalanced legal constraints.Thirdly, the evolution of logistics spatial agglomeration presents an inverted U-shaped variation pattern on environment quality. When the level of logistics agglomeration is low,it is restricted by objective conditions and has a blocking effect on pollution reduction. However, starting from the sample interval, representative regions such as Beijing and Shanghai gradually break through logistics agglomeration bottleneck in the form of a pyramid, thereby generating incentive effects on pollution reduction. The conclusions are supported by robustness tests such as eliminating extreme data disturbance, adopting prefecture level city panel data, pollutant sensitivity testing, eliminating the impact of COVID-19,avoiding pollution prevention interference and correcting the endogenous bias of the model.Fourthly, during the sample period, the logistics industry was in a stage where improving spatial agglomeration was not conducive to improving resource misallocation and the low energy utilization efficiency caused by resource misallocation became a stumbling block in the process of environmental pollution reduction.Fifth, under the regulatory effect of informatization, the arrival of the critical point for spatial agglomeration and emission reduction in the logistics industry will be relatively delayed.Under the regulatory effect of legalization,it will relatively accelerate the arrival of the critical point for spatial agglomeration and emission reduction in the logistics industry.Sixth, there is an inverted U-shaped variation pattern between logistics networks accessibility effect and air pollution transfer.Compared to inland areas, coastal areas are more sensitive to enhancing logistics network accessibility and increasing the risk of sulfur compounds, nitrogen oxides and fine particle pollution transfer.Based on the research findings, four suggestions are proposed.Firstly, solidly promote the construction of logistics agglomeration areas.Focus on the long-term mechanism of logistics spatial agglomeration, make up for the shortcomings of some regional logistics agglomeration in the short term and attach importance to the "snowball" effect of logistics agglomeration.Secondly, steadily increase investment in green technology research and development.Fully utilize industry, academia and research to improve technological innovation level, fully utilize institutional advantages to promote transformation of scientific and technological achievements, break through green development bottleneck in the logistics and change the existing low-end development mode.Thirdly,we will continue to optimize the level of green governance and the rule of law.The negative externality of the logistics development on environment can be offset by establishing and improving laws and regulations in relevant fields, formulating compensation mechanisms for cross regional technology introduction and promoting demonstration role of advantageous regions.Fourthly, break down barriers in industries, regions and enterprises.Due to the suitable location,it is necessary to build reasonable business and financing environment for logistics agglomeration areas, optimize logistics infrastructure construction, cultivate logistics professionals through multiple paths and avoid falling into the trap of expanding logistics development scale. It is also important to pay attention to "classified policies",reduce the imbalance of logistics network accessibility effects and avoid the possibility of resource mismatch and pollution emissions transferring in spatial distribution caused by this.
